uGeneral Summary:/uServe as a member of the network team and support the day-to-day management and operation of the campus data network. Install, configure, test and maintain network infrastructure devices and systems, ensuring integrity between hardware, operating systems and networks. Collaborate with network team to assist with the planning and management necessary to ensure appropriate network architecture, topology and transmission media for the institution. Collaborate within IT and with other departments and divisions on projects for the development of systems and/or network configurations.uPrinciple Duties and Responsibilities:/uInstall, configure, maintain, and support network infrastructure equipment including switches, routers, virtual private network devices, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, VoIP telephony systems and components, and wireless access points and control systems.brbrAssume a collaborative role in the design and standardization of system and/or network configuration, including hardware, software, and integration requirements.brbrCollaborate with network team in the selection or recommendation and configuration of network and/or third party application programs to provide improved response time, quality and cost effectiveness.brbrCollaborate with network team in the development of network architecture, topology and transmission media appropriate for the installation.brbrCollaborate with network team to select or recommend network standards and protocols.brbrCollaborate with the systems administration team for proper assignment and configuration of network resources supporting virtualized environments or for other servers.brbrProvide technical support on computer and network systems to other computer system administrators or support staff to ensure the successful provision of campus-wide computer communications.brbrMonitor and develop recommendations for improvement of methodologies and standards for monitoring network traffic, usage and performance.brbrMaintain, update and implement standards for documentation of equipment and network diagrams.brbrEvaluate user needs, systems and new technologies to recommend the most effective communication and transmission systems.brbrAct as either primary or secondary technical liaison for network products and system vendors.brbrCollaborate with network team and security team in the development and enforcement of network security procedures.brbrAssist in the preparation of recommendations, pilot installations, testing and evaluation, installation procedures and collaborate with teams to implement project plans and schedules for projects which will affect a segment of the university community and which utilize standard methodology.brbrCollaborate with network team in the design of the campus network, providing the infrastructure for access to all University and Internet information technology services.brbrCollaborate with network team in development and maintenance of strategic, tactical and operational plans for networking, client/server applications, and end-user access to University and Internet information technology services.brbrPerform other departmental duties as assigned.uQualifications:/uRequires a Bachelor's Degree in a computer related field plus a minimum of one year of directly related experience; or the combination of education and experience that enable the performance of all aspects of the position.brbrRequires knowledge of and experience with:br-- Best practices in network systems design, integration, configuration, implementation, and management.br-- Ci
