Cosma International Supplier Quality Engineer in Warren, Michigan

Job Introduction

The Supplier Quality Engineer provides quality development of supplier quality systems, control and improvement support for product development, and manufacturing, purchasing, containment of AIM Systems Corporation suppliers. Provides such support to ensure AIM Systems quality meets and/or exceeds customer expectations. This will include the use and deployment of quality tools within the Supplier Quality Manual at AIM Systems, and Strategic Initiatives such as Six Sigma, and root cause analysis.

Major Responsibilities
  • Continually work with suppliers to improve performance, implement process control and quality plans.

  • Interact routinely with Production, Purchasing, Engineering and Suppliers to pro-actively improve quality of components.

  • Develop new work processes, new tools and functional capabilities. Maintain and improve existing quality systems processes.

  • May be required to provide some technical training to other employees.

  • Ensure that the incumbent's area of responsibility is in compliance with the ISO and TS [regulatory] standards.

  • Proficient in the development of corporate supplier quality systems, which includes Supplier Quality Manuals, System Audits, Supplier Metrics, Corrective Actions, and Warranty Analysis.

  • Warranty analysis and root cause investigation required to identify and implement improvement projects.

  • Investigate product quality problems, determine root cause for unacceptable quality, gather and analyze data to facilitate and implement corrective actions/containments at the supplier in question.

  • In the event of a critical quality issue arising and putting AIM Systems production and/or inventory at risk, the SQE will facilitate and monitor all recovery efforts at the supplier.

  • Assists in identifying, communicating and resolving supplier quality problems.

  • Conducts Supplier Quality Audits of existing and new suppliers when required to determine adherence to acceptable quality practices.

  • Deploy advanced problem solving tools and methodologies to ensure process control and sustainability.

  • Monitor supplier quality performance metrics and assist suppliers with developing continuous improvement plans.

  • Audit/Risk Assessment Supplier’s development of Process Flow Charts, PFMA, Part Prints and the assignment of plant/process inspection points.

  • Audit/Risk Assessment Suppliers of the Control Plans (Quality Assurance System).

  • Provides support by evaluating potential Magna suppliers. Perform audit, report results and follow through on open actions.

  • Works with corporate purchasing to develop or revise supplier quality policies and procedures.

  • Ensure the review and appropriate corrective action to all non-conformers.

  • Ensure a safe working environment by observing safe work practices and by following all safety policies and procedures.

  • Other duties, as assigned.

Knowledge and Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Work Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of diversified experience in statistics and Q.A. systems, preferably in an automotive manufacturing environment.

  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, as well as, strong organization skills.

  • Understanding of manufacturing, assembly, sequencing and equipment principles.

  • Blue Print Reading.

  • Strong statistical analysis ability. Understanding and demonstration of GD&T.;

  • Prior experience with advanced quality processes and tools (PPAP, FMEA, etc.).

  • Prior project management experience.

  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills.

  • Self-starter and highly motivated.

  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft applications (PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
