General Motors is looking for a talented Software System Engineer to help us build state-of-the-art connectivity platforms. We are seeking people who can help us push the limits of vehicle technology.
As part of our team, you will be a key member of GM’s advanced line of vehicle components. Our group delivers software for GM’s next generation infotainment and connectivity systems. In this role, you will work at GM’s vehicle engineering center in Michigan and perform product planning, requirements development, issue resolution, and coordination of vehicle feature integration with off-site teams.
Work with GM System Engineers, Feature Owners and Business Owners to understand system requirements and key performance measurements.
Participate in planning, definition, and high-level design of the solution and exploration of solution alternatives.
Coordinate with architecture teams to define subsystems and their Interfaces.
Allocate responsibilities to subsystems, understand solution deployment and communicate business use cases and requirements to the development teams.
Verify software requirements meet business use cases.
Support integration activities and assist triage of reported issues.
Act as the supporting technical point of contact between the Connectivity program teams and the software development team.
Participate in Connectivity change management review boards, providing input for the software development team.
Promote teamwork and foster collaboration both inside and outside of the Phoenix Development organization.
Represent Phoenix in Warren based AGILE activities.
Interaction with Architecture, Engineering, Back Office and Supplier
Program Increment Planning meeting representation.
PDT related meetings, and other remote activities as needed.
Additional Job Description
Bachelor of Science degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or other related software field.
Good level of oral and written communication skills.
Creativity and initiative as well as a level of independent judgment.
Minimum of 5 years of systems engineering experience.
Experience utilizing SAFe/Agile technologies.
Understanding of networking and software development in distributed systems.
Connectivity development – telephony, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, BLE, NFC, USB, satellite communication transports.
Telematics development – vehicle remote management, safety and security services, vehicle bus protocols, vehicle diagnostics.
Master of Science Degree in an engineering discipline or information technology.
