Job Description

As a Digital Artist for Immersive Technologies you will be responsible for creating photo real assets to be used for different render engines. You will be bringing life to immersive experiences through the creation of materials and environments. You will be working in a team with other talented artists who will be able to mentor you in order to continue to expand your skillset. Preferably you will be well versed with industry standard Design tools, 3D modeling programs, and Development Engines. An understanding of storytelling and a strong sense of color theory will help you succeed.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Create and manage digital assets in a fast-paced environment

  • Create digital designs or illustrations

  • Interpret real world materials for digital creation

  • Material / Shader creation for multiple development engines such as Unreal and Unity

  • Light interior and exteriors of vehicles and the scenes

  • Converting HDR imagery into a 3D environment with geometrical assets

  • Follow design guidelines, asset naming conventions and other technical constraints

  • Prototype and iterate on models based on feedback from team members

  • Work with multiple teams as well as vendors to drive design iterations

  • Create texture maps for material shaders

  • Optimize, refine and correct model geometry

  • Create environments with 3D geometry

  • Work with artists, animators and programmers to execute projects on time

  • Keep up with the latest developments in 3D design

  • Work closely with more experienced IT professionals to gain additional knowledge and expertise

  • Document software solutions and ensure that technical documentation meets GM standards

  • Assist with maintaining GM standards compliance

  • Holds themselves and others accountable for demonstrating GMs values and cultural behaviors. Models GM behaviors and builds a winning culture.

  • Good verbal communication skills in presenting ideas and providing feedback on projects

  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Additional Job Description

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above

  • Must have graduated between October 2019 and December 2020

  • Knowledge of standard design communication tools such as Illustrator and Photoshop

  • Knowledge of 3D design and animation tools such as 3DS Max, Maya, Blender, Zbrush etc.

  • An eye for detail and good visualization skills

  • Ability to take feedback and make changes as required

  • Working knowledge of development engines, namely Unreal and Unity

  • Some familiarity with interactive experiences through story telling

  • Good communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Fine or Digital Arts

  • Some scripting experience

  • WebGL knowledge

  • Knowledge of Substance Suite Tools

  • Designing for mobile or web experiences

  • Passion for vehicles
