ELECTRICAL ARCHITECT POSITION
-The Electrical architect is a key position responsible for designing and implementing the entire power and signal distribution system for vehicle programs. It is an electrical engineering position within the Product Development Team.
-The position entails working closely with wiring DREs [Design Release Engineers] and the Electrical team, as well as other Product Development engineering groups such as Powertrain, HVAC, Infotainment, Interiors, Exteriors, and Chassis.
KEY JOB ELEMENTS:
Establish vehicle electrical system requirements and establish vehicle physical/functional partitioning
Allocate functional requirements to subsystems
Select the electrical architecture to support requirements
Establish Energy Management strategy
Create the vehicle power and ground electrical design
Specify and balance system requirements
Ensure the power generation and storage system meets vehicle level requirements using EPSSIM.
Diagnose and correct electrical system deficiencies using CAE tools.
Assist in failure mode and effects analysis.
Attend Product Development Team meetings to ensure deliverables and timing are met
Provides program specific requirements for sourcing process
Provides technical background in wiring supplier technical reviews
Creating vehicle schematics
Mention capital experience is preferred
Vehicle electrical system requirements, looking into the electrical components in the vehicle, how they need to be connected, and what is required to get them all connected
Candidate should have one of the following engineering degrees: BSE, BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Chemistry, Metallurgical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Aeronautical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Physics, or Materials Engineering
Prefer 7-10 years of experience in Power Signal or Automotive Product Electrical Engineering including experience releasing electrical components
High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and complex
Knowledge of engineering software and systems as it pertains to job-related area
Wiring DRE experience
Experience working in controls
Electrical component DRE
2-3 years of experience mentor capital experience
DFSS training (green or black belt), or Six Sigma
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Master's degree preferred
Industry recognized affiliations and/or awards preferred
