Major Duties and Responsibilities
Develop next-generation high energy density lithium ion battery technologies for electric vehicles
Develop and execute technical plans, including concept generation, development, and evaluation
Generate timely and high-quality research reports, external publications, and records of invention to document new ideas and research results in his/her areas of research
Lead technical discussions and reviews as an expert in related areas of responsibility
Maintain state-of-the-art knowledge in related areas of responsibility
Communicate ideas, plans and results effectively via presentations and written reports
Work effectively with peers, management, operations groups, and outside organizations
Additional Job Description
Basic Required Skills:
PhD in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science/Engineering, or Chemistry and related filed with demonstrated research capability
Strong knowledge and hands-on experience on material synthesis, analysis and electrochemical characterization techniques
Knowledge of electrochemical surface phenomena and its characterization;
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with GM internal and external customers
Basic Preferred Skills
0-6 years of research experience (postdoc or industrial)
Experience in battery material synthesis, surface coating, and characterization techniques
Experience in battery cell design and electrode/cell fabrication
Experience in electrochemical characterization and testing equipment
Deep understanding in electrochemical reaction phenomena and mechanisms
