State of Michigan MDOT Plan Review Specialist - Bridge Transportation Engineer Licensed Spl 13 in Various, Michigan
MDOT’s open position is for a licensed professional engineer with a bachelor’s degree in engineering and at least four years of experience. Extensive knowledge of transportation engineering and bridge design and rehabilitation is required. This MDOT engineer will review bridge plan sets for completeness and accuracy as a member of a dedicated and experienced quality assurance team. The work required for this position can be performed remotely at locations statewide and at the official workstation in Lansing. Some visits to the official workstation in Lansing are required.
The selected candidate for this position must have a solid understanding of bridge design standards and the ability to assess and interpret plans, including traffic staging schemes, for constructability. This MDOT engineer must be able to identify errors and contradictions. They will regularly compose and present solutions to complex design issues. This engineer’s ability to organize, evaluate and present information effectively, while maintaining favorable stakeholder relations, will be highly valued as they work with MDOT staff and external stakeholders statewide. As a licensed professional engineer, this specialist will verify the resolution of errors and contradictions and sign a certificate of acceptance before projects are submitted for advertisement and bid letting.
The MDOT Design Quality Assurance Section keeps Michigan transportation infrastructure projects moving forward, processing more than 150 plan sets annually. This engineer will be relied upon for vital quality review and problem solving to contribute to providing the highest quality integrated transportation services for Michigan citizens.
Required Education and Experience
Possession of a bachelor of science degree in engineering.
Four years of professional experience equivalent to a Transportation Engineer, including two years equivalent to a Transportation Engineer P11 or one year equivalent to a Transportation Engineer 12 or Transportation Engineer Licensed 12.
Additional Requirements and Information
Possession of a registered professional engineering license as required by the State of Michigan.
