Applications Engineering Intern

Introduction

The Applications Engineer works to identify and resolve product application issues and deliver products into production. Located in Visteon’s GLCC technical center, this position will report to the Product Delivery team, working to develop audio infotainment products for specific customer vehicle applications.

The Role

Typical duties of the applications engineer include:

  • Performing bench evaluation of issues raised by customer

  • Supporting product defect triage

  • Prototype build support

  • Following up on open tasks

  • Development of bench test cases

On a typical project, you will interface with a core team of approximately five functions, including:

  • Electrical engineering team

  • SW engineering team

  • Manufacturing plants

  • Product Development Team Lead

  • Program Manager

The job will be located in our GLCC technical center, with the possibility of some local travel to the customer within Michigan.

More specific job duties include working with the EE team for hardware performance evaluation and bench testing, working with the SW team for software defect triage and verification, working with the plants for prototype builds supporting product development and testing, and supporting the PDTL and PM on various program related tasks.

The Requirements

To be a good fit for the applications engineering role, you will have to have good communication and organization skills, technical aptitude, and a team player willing to overcome a variety of challenges.

Desired Competencies:

Working towards a degree in Electrical Engineering or Software Engineering field preferred.
