Position TitleVirtual Infrastructure Engineer (VMware)LocationHeadquarters-Troy, MIJob SummaryThis position acts as the senior engineer for the most complex configuration, deployment, support, administration, monitoring and analysis of virtual technology infrastructure (VMware, SAN, etc.) supporting the enterprise. This position is responsible for governance, oversight and orchestration of the scoping and delivery of high performing virtual enterprise technology solutions (virtual machines, storage area networks, operating systems, physical hardware, etc.).Job Responsibilities:* Manage systems configuration and ensure compliance; implement and enforce security / standards, regulations and best practices governing company policies.* Develop and use effective preventive maintenance program able to meet the operational objective of 99.9% availability with a focus on 100% uptime design improvements.* Evaluate, test, deploy and maintain VMware and UCS software / upgrades.* Manage large scale UCS server farm, licensing and monitoring tools, deployment of new virtual machines and health / safety of environment.* Design, implement and manage disaster recovery sites and create procedures to support the organization in the event of a disaster. Continuous improvement / monitoring of the plan.* Own and resolve production issues, working closely with cross functional teams.* Create and maintain system architecture and troubleshooting and computing environment documentation.* Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. Complete all required compliance training. Maintain knowledge of and adhere to Flagstar's internal compliance policies and procedures. Take responsibility to keep up to date with changing regulations and policies.Job Requirements:* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field plus 10 years of related work experience - OR - 15 years of comparable work experience. Master's Degree preferred.* 10 years in IT systems engineering* 5 years of experience with virtual infrastructure technologies* 1 year of experience leading and developing others either formally or informally* Extensive experience in the design, architecture and implementation of storage solutions in a VMware, UNIX/Linux, or Windows environment* Highly skilled in troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common VMware and SAN problems* Experience in capacity planning and assisting with storage forecasting* Strong ability to analyze logs, track and resolve software/hardware matters of significance pertaining to both NAS and FibreChannel connectivity issues* Experience with Fiber Networks, Network-attached storage / direct-attached storage / Internet Small Computer System Interface; as well as multipathing software such as PowerPath, Native MPIO* Proven ability in designing, implementing and maintaining VMware and Cisco UCS based infrastructure* Extensive experience evaluating, testing, deploying and maintaining VMware and UCS software and upgrades* Extensive experience maintaining and managing a large-scale UCS server farm, manages licensing and monitoring tools, deploy new VMs through scripts and manage VM templates* Proven ability to design, implement and manage DR sites and create DR procedures* Experience with Cisco SAN switches (I.E., MDS/Nexus 5K)* Experience with administration VMware vSphere/vCloud/ESXi* Experience with Site Recovery Manager* Knowledge of storage protocols such as FC/FCoE/NFS/iSCSI* Experience in hardware troubleshooting with
