The Challenge

The Trading Goods Analyst is a member of the Supply Chain team and is responsible for coordination of all DSM Engineering Plastics North American trading goods purchases. The successful candidate will place intercompany orders and track them in accordance with SAP POSO/STO flow master data requirements and material allocations, placing additional focus on orders that require expedited or more timely delivery. In this role, it will be important to look for improvement opportunities in the execution of intercompany material flows.

The Position

• Responsible for coordination of all DSM Engineering Plastics North American trading goods purchases• Places intercompany orders and tracks them in accordance with SAP POSO/STO flow master data requirements and material allocations, placing additional focus on orders that require expedited or more timely delivery• Measures, monitors, and reports on delivery performance of intercompany suppliers to ensure trading goods are available when and where needed• Looks for improvement opportunities in the execution of intercompany material flows• Serves as backup for Raw Materials Planner for critical tasks, ensuring materials are ordered and delivered as needed• Time difference between US, Europe and Asia may require meetings and calls in the evenings/early morning• Often under time pressure due to ever-changing market dynamics and conflicting business priorities• Reactionary environment: frequent customer order changes requiring ever changing trading goods requirements• Understand import documentation and importing process, as well as stay abreast of situations that may affect the physical flow of material into the US (port strikes, weather events, trade disputes, etc.)• Provides information and guidance to warehouse partners to aid in receiving in SAP containers, pallets, and other packages of trading goods materials

The Ideal

• B.S. or equivalent in business administration, supply chain, logistics or related field; or 5+ years of work experience in this field• 3-5 years of experience preferably in a manufacturing environment is preferred• Thorough working knowledge of SAP, BW, and Microsoft Office• Strong analytical abilities• Sensitivity to cultural diversity• Ability to function well in a dynamic environment• Must be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing in a global environment, being sensitive to professional ethics, gender and cultural diversities• Must be able to effectively work where there may be conflicting priorities• Must be able to work in an environment of global communication across time zones• Must have excellent organizational skills
