Job Title: Manager, Data Governance and Analytics

FLSA Status: Exempt

Reports to: Director, Strategic Finance

Summary Champion is seeking an analytical professional to manage all organization-wide data governance activities. This position will focus on establishing and ensuring adherence to an enterprise data governance framework for data policies, standards and practices to achieve the required level of consistency, quality and protection to meet overall business needs, and guarantee that all information to and from the company runs timely and securely. The Manager, Data Governance and Analytics, serves as a point of escalation for governance, data quality and protection issues and will work closely with Business and Functional area leadership to improve the quality and value of core data assets as well as support the strategic requirements of the company.

Additionally, this position will implement tools and strategies to translate raw data into valuable business insights and support various initiatives within the company. Manager, Data Governance and Analytics will be a part of business analytics team tasked with selecting, configuring, and implementing analytics solutions

The applicant will be physically located in Troy, MI.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Establish an enterprise data governance implementation roadmap in line with company's strategic priorities

  • Roll out an enterprise wide data governance framework, with a focus on improvement of data quality via policies and standards, principles, governance metrics, processes, related tools and data architecture

  • Serve as a liaison between Business and Functional areas and technology to ensure that data related business requirements clearly defined, communicated, and well understood and considered as part of operational prioritization and planning

  • Develop & maintain inventory of the enterprise information maps, including authoritative systems, owners

  • Facilitate the development and implementation of data quality standards, data protection standards and adoption requirements across the enterprise

  • Define indicators of performance and quality metrics and ensure compliance with data related policies, standards, roles and responsibilities, and adoption requirements

  • Work with data governance committee and data stewards to achieve their objectives; resolve issues escalated from Business and Functional areas data governance representatives

  • In conjunction with the IT, provide progress reports to Board management and oversee periodic updates to the Department Data Governance Roadmap

  • Coordinate external data sources to eliminate redundancy and streamline the expense related to those services

  • Identify new business opportunities pertaining to the use of information assets to achieve efficiency and effectiveness in the marketplace / represent data as a strategic business asset at the Senior Management table

  • Provide technical oversight for integrating new technology or new initiatives into data standards and structures.

  • Compare and analyze provided statistical information to identify patterns, relationships and problems

  • Define and utilize analytical methods to solve industry-specific problems in varying fields, such as procurement, manufacturing, margin analysis, and sales

  • Develop strategies for effective data analysis and reporting, create or migrate business reports to the new ERP system, and train power users on new business analytics tools,

  • Develop and maintain strong and effective relationships and work collaboratively and cross-functionally with other internal functions and other professional service providers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in information management, computer science, finance or related field

  • A minimum of 5 years' related work / educational experience.

  • Knowledge of industry leading data quality and data governance practices, business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets

  • Demonstrated consulting skills, with change management concepts and strategies, including communication, culture change and performance measurement system design

  • Internally and externally recognized subject matter expert that influence the way things are done

  • Ability to complete milestones and work toward multiple deadlines simultaneously

  • Strong computer skills and ability to use necessary databases and software; experience with Oracle system is a plus
