Cosma International Application Software Engineer – (Testing) in Troy, Michigan

Job Introduction

Responsible for developing and executing test strategies based on requirements. Involved in the design, development, and testing of functional software for driveline electronic control systems and components. Working from broad specifications, not only performs, but is responsible for guiding engineering activities. Independently plans, designs, and carries out work assignments and often serves as a technical authority.

Major Responsibilities
  1. Develop and execute test strategies based on requirements, architecture and software units

  2. Setup and execute static tests to demonstrate code coverage and perform Polyspace analysis

  3. Responsible for interpretation of test results, documentation of deviation and initiation of improvements

  4. Attend and represent the Software Team as the testing expert for FMEAs, and Functional Safety Assessments

  5. Perform technical and formal test reviews

  6. Responsible for monitoring and reporting the test progress and results

  7. Modeling in Simulink and or Targetlink, design, development and problem resolution of new and existing electronic controls systems and components for powertrain, and chassis products

  8. Develop control software Product/System Practices and Procedures

  9. Ensure constant communication with the offshore test/development team

  10. Practice and maintain integrity while following Magna’s Charter and Constitution

  11. Follow Magna’s Code of Conduct and Ethics and related compliance policies

  12. Supports and adheres to policies, procedures, and operational guidelines related to established quality management system (IATF).

  13. Drive the development of new technologies to improve quality, efficiency and reduce cost

  14. Comply with safety policies and procedures to ensure duties of self are performed in a safe manner

Knowledge and Education
  1. Experience with Matlab / Simulink and / or automatic code generation (DSpace Targetlink, Embedded Coder or similar) required

  2. Experience with BTC-embedded tester and Polyspace strongly preferred

  3. Basic knowledge in C,C++

  4. Bachelor of Science in engineering required (Electrical, Software, Controls Engineering or similar preferred)

  5. High level of analytical ability, understand of engineering theory and principles of design

  6. Working knowledge in computer based software, strong organizational/communication skills, and ability to work with others in a team environment

Work Experience
  1. 2+ years of experience with Matlab / Simulink and / or automatic code generation (DSpace, Targetlink, Embedded Coder or similar) required

  2. Automotive industry experience strongly preferred

  3. Experience with BTC-embedded tester and Polyspace strongly preferred

  4. Basic knowledge in software development languages (C,C++) required
