We are currently seeking a Vehicle Electrification Engineering Specialist for our Southfield MI or Menomonee Falls WI location. Relocation assistance will be provided if needed.
Eaton Research Labs focuses on the front end of innovation by conducting research to advance the state of the art, emphasizing cross-business impact technologies, and innovating to provide Eaton’s customers with safe, efficient, and reliable power management solutions.
The Energy Systems team has the principal goal of identifying, developing, and justifying commercialization of significant growth opportunities for diverse Eaton businesses in the area of power system management and optimization for electrical power systems including both stationary applications and electric vehicles.

In this role you will:
Lead complex global technology realization programs/projects utilizing our internal project execution processes, including Gate Reviews, Design Reviews, and Technical Reviews.
Be responsible for creating, executing and tracking all the milestones for the entire project. Assigns roles and responsibilities for the project team members.
Be responsible for setting the strategy for an entire program that can encompass multiple projects. Responsible to assign project leads and technical leads for all program activities.
Serve as (or support) Program Managers in the development of detailed project plans and value proposition.
Lead globally diverse cross-functional project teams effectively and manage selected projects under the guidelines of our internal stage-gate process.
Lead the development of strategies for technology roadmaps for specific applications that are linked to and supportive of the overall CRT and business strategies.
Participate and present in ideation events (Innovation Summits, Design Bursts, etc.)
Serve as Principal Investigator in government proposal preparation and/or project execution
Initiate and develop solid relationships with both engineering and business leaders
Drive strong business cases for new commercial applications and acquire needed resources and funding
Identify leading external partnerships, outside technologies and best practices to bring to Eaton
Lead open innovation events with universities and external institutes that align with Power Block strategy
Serve as a subject matter expert externally and internally. This includes leadership/active participation in external industry and technical groups, mentoring junior level staff and consulting internal business and engineering partners.
Actively contribute to and guides team members on IP generation
Participate in department and process improvements and can teach standard processes and tools to junior staff

Basic (Required) Qualifications
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Control System Engineering from an accredited institution re
5+ years of industrial vehicle electrification/charging infrastructure experience
PhD preferred in Electrical Engineering or Control System Engineering or a related field.
Experience in the following areas: electric vehicle power systems, high voltage DC power systems, or charging infrastructure
Experience in performing dynamic systems modeling and analysis, performing technology research and development from concept to implementation.
Experience with real time simulators such as DSPACE, OPAL-RT and/or RTDS.
Solid knowledge in high voltage power conversion or power distribution system design and analysis.
Experienced in engaging with business stakeholders and OEM customers and developing strong partnerships in key research areas.
Experience with Vehicle to Grid/ Vehicle to Infrastructure and related communication protocols such as J1772, ISO15118 is a plus.
Able to drive strong business case with key stakeholders and create new commercial applications
Recognized externally as a subject matter expert. This may be evident through invitations to present a technical presentation or publish in a technical journal as SME to an audience of technical/industry peers
Proficient in energy/power management for electrical power system using model-based development tools such as Matlab/Simulink/Simscape, PSCAD, or AMESim.
Understands risks and can set key milestones for technology development
Strong technical publication and invention record
Experience in writing government proposals;
DFSS certification is a plus.
