The data analyst position provides decision and data analysis support related to quality of care, resource utilization and reduction of cost to hospital and medical staff as required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborates with administrative and clinical staff in the development of reports and analysis of data.
Creates, builds and maintains these process improvement tools.
Designs and produces variance and monitor reports to measure, analyze and compare cost and clinical outcomes.
Provides information needed for planning, marketing, management decision making, clinical improvement needs, and cost management.
Develops methodologies/approaches, designs report formats, and writes computer programs to extract data.
Serves as a consultant to the clinical and medical staff, and other departments, by providing information and assistance for the use of the decision support databases and other software applications.
Performs routine and ad hoc clinical, volume and financial reports and analyses.
Responds to both simple and complex requests and assists data analysts with development of reports/analyses.
Designs and maintains physician, specialty, department or institution specific reports for quality improvement.
Designs new reports to facilitate analysis of quality outcomes.
Interprets and summarizes information.
Performs appropriate statistical tests and analyses documents and explains processes.
Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate literature and attending related seminars.
Completes questionnaires, forms and responds to information requests for external reporting purposes.
Maintains the confidentiality of information in accordance with hospital policy.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Health Services Administration, Business Administration or related field.
Preferred knowledge of clinical/health related field or experience.
Four to six years related experience with data analysis.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Expert ability to use Microsoft Office, including Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word, etc.
Preferred experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
Strong interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate and interact with all levels of hospital and medical staff.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Advanced experience with large-scale databases and advanced analytic and computer skills including data management and statistical software.
Ability to research, obtain and evaluate information, analyze problems, and make appropriate recommendations and decisions for clinical and cost related applications.
Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail and ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to work with co-workers in a team-oriented environment.
