The Donor Data Analyst is a Regional position supporting the data, reporting and back-office activities of the Development Department of St. Joseph Mercy Health System in SE Michigan and Mercy Health in West Michigan.

The Office of Development plays an integral role in sustaining the mission of Saint Joseph Mercy Health System by building and leading relationships with donors and funders – individuals, corporations and foundations, passionate about St. Joe's and the impact of philanthropy – and managing the process for gift and grant solicitation, recording, and acknowledgment. The Office of Development is a strategic business unit that is revenue generating and is also critical to the Health System's status as a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization. Key responsibilities include planning strategies for donor-centered support that aligns with health system priorities and needs; managing the solicitation of gifts and grants; managing gift accounting, report development, data analytics and other information services, and donor record management; providing donors/funders with gratitude, recognition, and meaningful experiences and personal connection to our health system; communicating and publicizing the impact of giving, providing health system updates, making calls to action, and inspiring ongoing giving; engaging supporters in helping to advance our mission and make a difference for the patients and communities we serve.

The Donor Data Analyst requires an Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Candidates must be demonstrably proficient in Microsoft Office products, understand relational databases and two years of Raiser’s Edge Database experience is preferred.

Candidates must possess a minimum 2 years' experience in business intelligence report writing and the interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively with donors, volunteers and staff.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities Include:

  • Works with all users of the database to record and maintain quality, integrity and accuracy of all information, monitors and enforces both HIPAA and PCI compliance. Leads and/or participates in training of all database users, is a resource for all on-going training and in-services. Creates and maintains training materials and user guides. Assists with application support, problem solving with Raiser's Edge/CRM and is liaison between users and the vendor.

  • Supports business intelligence reporting needs by interpreting, designing, writing and developing standard and complex reports and data outputs, including donor acknowledgement letters and receipts. Uses reporting tools such as OData, Data Lists and Excel. Interfaces with colleagues to understand report requirements, develop solutions, and troubleshoot problems. Develops complex queries and analysis using the Blackbaud CRM platform. Develops and executes complex queries, reports, exports, imports and upload files.

  • Maintains excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with non-technical people, donors and colleagues and stakeholders.

  • Assists in the development of system planning, testing and conversion procedures for regional development office databases including, but not limited to: database mapping, database hygiene, gift and code table clean-up and consolidation, and reporting procedures ensuring accuracy and integrity of the database to be migrated.

  • Proficient in gift recording to ensure all donations are properly recorded to meet donor intent and integrity of data is maintained at all times.

  • Provide assistance to Special Event Managers with Event recording using software Maestro AuctionPro and other software.
