Nexteer Automotive Electrical Applications Engineer (2019) in Saginaw, Michigan
Integral contributor to a team of highly motivated engineers in the development of electrical controller modules for advanced steering systems.
Support a Lead Electrical Application Engineer in facilitating software engineering interface to the OEM’s.
Coordinate formal release of embedded software and vehicle calibrations.
Create and release component specifications for software or electrical controllers on leading edge technologies such as rack and pinion electrical power steering, steering column-based assist, automated driving and/or agriculture.
Interface with software project management and cross-functional teams to meet project deliverables for design, quality, reliability, and cost.
Provide input to internal teams developing DFMEA’s and system level DVP&R. Perform bench-level evaluations on new features and software content.
Work with Nexteer prototype operations on delivery of cutting edge technologies for OEM vehicle testing.
Contribute to problem solving activities regarding complex hardware / software design challenges.
Degree: Bachelor of Science
Major: Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Physics or Biomedical Engineering
Educational focus in design/development of electrical systems in hardware and/or software.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with embedded system microcontrollers.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Proficient with Microsoft office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
Familiarity with automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Flexray)
Familiarity with basic tools that apply to CAN networks.
Familiarity with DOORS/requirements management tools.
Familiarity with Matlab and Simulink.
Functional understanding of C programming language.
Automotive engineering experience.
- Must have the ability to Sit or Stand: Ability to sit for extended periods of time, or the ability to remain on his or her feet in an upright position for continuous periods of time
