Oakland University Research Analyst in Rochester, Michigan
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business or other closely related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience working with analysis or research. One year experience in fundraising and/or prospect research, utilizing online databases and other reference materials or a combination of education and/or experience. Process oriented with strong data analysis skills. Well organized with exceptional time-management skills; capable of managing multiple projects and completing a high volume of work under tight deadlines, and with careful attention to detail. Ability to work independently and on advance multiple projects simultaneously, with little supervision. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Excellent organizational and analytical skills. Ability to communicate effectively with others. Understanding of fundraising principles.
Masters degree in Public Administration, Non-Profit Management, Business or related field and/or license or certificate in non-profit management or analytics field. Preference for previous fundraising research experience in higher education or other large scale non-profit organizations. Experience researching individuals, foundation and corporate giving trends and proficiency in utilizing fundraising software and electronic file imaging system.

The research analyst is part of the University Advancement research team and identifies and makes informed recommendations about new and existing (individual, corporate and foundation) philanthropic prospects and donors. The research team responds to requests from the vice president of University Advancement, gift officers, event staff and university leadership for information that contributes to the evaluation of philanthropic capacity, inclination and readiness. This position utilizes a wide variety of public and subscription services in both electronic, and print formats to present indicators such as real estate, public company stock holdings, compensation, corporate giving, and foundation assets, to estimate philanthropic likelihood. The research analyst is responsible for compiling, analyzing and interpreting complex information to prepare reader-friendly written communications such as individual, foundation and corporate profiles and event briefings.
