What You Will Do
As Sr. Staff R&D Software Test Engineer , you will define and execute test strategies for GUI software applications for use by Orthopaedic Surgeons to allow them to plan and perform their procedures. In this role, you will define test strategies for C++, Qt, Linux-based user interfaces that are part of medical devices that support our computer assisted and robotic product lines.
You will work as part of an R&D design engineering team to define the software test strategies for computer and robot assisted Orthopaedic product lines.
You will lead the software test strategy while identifying automation opportunities, tooling choices, and protocol definition.
You will design and develop the software test tools, harnesses and fixtures to support collaborative troubleshooting, tracking of bugs, and test results reviews with teams.
You will ensure the testing aligns with documentation including the product software requirements while meeting quality standards and maintaining compliance
You will review and author software documents created per the quality system process documentation.
You will work with software tools such as Configuration Management tools (Perforce/GitHub), CI/CD tools (Jenkins), Defect Tracking tools (Jira), ALM, and traceability tools.
You will provide mentorship or training to engineers in software best practices as necessary.
You will work directly with Technical Leadership on breaking down work, scheduling, risks, and project updates.
You will work cross functionally with multiple technical experts and internal/external training to further develop your SW development skills and better understand the medical procedures in which your products will be used.
You will participate in the greater Stryker software community to continually to ensure software is designed with a test driven and quality approach.
What you need:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related field is required.
6+ years of software test/development experience required (preferably in a regulated industry).
Demonstrated experience designing software testing strategies and leading creation/execution of lower-level test scripts preferred.
Experience working with global cross functional teams on complex multi-disciplinary projects preferred.
Demonstrated ability to plan software strategies, provide timing estimates and work collaboratively with stakeholders to deliver results preferred.
Strong ability to troubleshoot issues and resolve through solutions preferred.
Experience designing automated test systems for GUI-based products preferred.
Software development experience in C/C++, Qt, Linux, Python preferred.
