Role Summary

This position will be in the Global Transmission and Electrification Advanced Architecture group and this person will be primarily working on generating, developing, and selecting new hybrid/transmission concepts and architectures. This person would lead or support system level advanced technology work (ATW) projects. In this role, this person would also have to develop requirements for new concepts and maintain the toolset currently used for concept selection.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generating and Developing new electrification concepts
  • Generating and Developing new transmission concepts
  • Conduct trade-off studies to select best concepts
  • Lead or support system level advanced technology work projects
  • Application engineer for advanced concepts – interface with planning organization and develop requirements
  • Update and Improve Powerflow selection toolset

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 7 years of automotive experience
  • Minimum 3 years of automatic transmission/electrification experience
  • Knowledge of automatic transmission or drive unit operating principles at both a component and system level
  • Knowledge of vehicle and propulsion systems and their interactions
  • Knowledge of alternative transmission types
  • Knowledge of alternative electrification architectures
  • Ability to generate new and creative solutions to problems
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to function in a team environment

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Knowledge of competitive propulsion system technologies and trends
  • Knowledge/experience in application engineering
  • Ability to use Unigraphics
  • Experience in solving system level transmission or electrification problems
  • Knowledge of manufacturing techniques and ability to interface with advanced manufacturing organization
  • Experience with VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) and ability to generate and maintain spreadsheet based tools

Education and Training

  • BSME or BSEE – required
  • MSME or MSEE - preferred
