We’re looking for a motivated software test engineer to join the Autodesk Translation Framework team (ATF) to help develop and maintain the core components that enable world class data translation capabilities in all of Autodesk’s major products. Our engineering culture will empower you to make effective decisions, work collaboratively, and take accountability for the overall quality of software development projects at the core of the company. As a Software Engineer on this team, you will have the opportunity to work closely with team members in US, Canada, UK and China to ensure excellent quality data translation component deliveries by applying strong testing and development skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement test systems and strategies with an objective to find and prevent defects during the software development cycle and assure quality of data translators for Autodesk products including Inventor, AutoCAD, Alias Studio, Fusion 360, 3ds Max, Maya, Revit, BIM360 and cloud services.

  • Leverage your quality assurance mindset and validate functionality, stability, compatibility, performance and bring customer perspective to the development process to ensure goals are met for key translator components for CAD/CAE applications that exchange data to and from various file formats including STEP, IGES, CATIA, SolidWorks, Parasolid, SAT, Creo, JT, NX, STL, Rhino, Sketchup and more.

  • Create and execute test cases using carefully designed test models

  • Create and execute comprehensive test plans and analyze test results

  • Develop test automations for import and export workflows

  • Clearly document, manage, and prioritize defects as well as collaborate with product support and customers to resolve customer issues

  • Collaborate with product owners, scrum masters and engineers to evaluate quality related risk, and/or stability of products and services

  • Actively participate in team meetings and practice Agile mindset throughout the software development lifecycle

  • Perform hands on test script development

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent experience

  • 2+ years of experience in software development and testing

  • Experience with at least one mechanical CAD application - a must

  • Recent hands-on work experience in coding and scripting skills in languages like C++, Python - 'a must'

  • Understanding of 3d design and data translation workflows

  • Knowledge and experience designing tests, defining test scope and identifying functional and non-functional testing (e.g. performance, availability, stability, security, environment, etc.), creating unit test frameworks, automated regressions tests - a plus

  • Experience with testing tools and testing process in product release cycles

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English

  • Keen eye for detail, meticulous and analytically minded

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise using one or more CAD systems including Autodesk Products, or other applications such as Solidworks, SolidEdge, NX, CATIA, Creo, Rhino, Sketchup, etc.

  • Experience with one or more 3D file formats such as JT, IGES, STEP, QIF, glTF, USD, 3MF, STL, OBJ.

  • Experience with PMI/MBD workflows
