Ryder System Senior Business Analyst in NOVI, Michigan

Position Description

The Sr. Business Analyst gathers, analyzes, and understands business needs and system design. Leads process improvement projects and applies six sigma and similar methodologies and analytics to accomplish measurable business process improvements. Communicates with users/business and IT staff to examine business processes and requests, develop complex detailed requirements, and build process flow charts for the creation of applications, systems, and enhancements.

The Sr. Business Analyst formulates and recommends solutions and options that improve efficiency, effectiveness, and automation, while mentoring and traning others. Proficient to work at the highest level of all phases of analysis, process improvement methodologies, and project management.

Additional Details:

  • Distribution and/or Transportation experience required

  • Exposure with Excel or Access – some SQL or ETL experience is a plus

  • Experience collecting or providing business requirements for IT solutions

  • Background or experience in operations is preferred

  • Good organization skills with project management experience

  • Strong communication skills – both verbal and written


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer science, business, business process improvement, informatics, or engineering

  • Attained Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification (or equivalent) preferred

  • PMP certification preferred

  • 5+ yrs experience in business analysis or project management

  • Experienced in systems development and project management preferred

  • Acts as liaison between the business and IT groups during the development and implementation of new systems and enhancements to current ones

  • Identifies business and systems processes and procedures needs

  • Employs process improvement practices and techniques to analyze and recommend solutions that will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of business processes and procedures

  • Facilitates requirements by organizing gathering sessions and other related events

  • Examines and evaluates business needs/requests to describe what the processes, systems, and service must do to fulfill the request

  • Records and updates business and functional requirements / specifications, whether for a simple report, system, or an application

  • Conducts feasibility and economic studies to justify the recommended automation or process improvement

  • Creates measures of success in assesing the effectiveness of the proposed solution

  • Develops test plans and scripts for user acceptance testing

  • Mentors and trains other Business Analysts

  • Assists in the development of PMO processes and procedures for all Business Analyst activities

  • Performs other duties as assigned
