Position Overview

We’re growing our private cloud team within Autodesk’s Infrastructure-as-a-Service organization. This team leverages software engineering and DevOps principals to build, deploy, configure, and manage infrastructure and platform components as consistent and codified stacks. The team is seeking a private cloud DevOps Engineer who will partner with Autodesk’s product development teams to ensure they get the most value out of Autodesk’s private cloud capabilities.


  • Enhance, maintain, and modernize a private cloud stack that presently consists of VMware,CloudStack, and an orchestration layer/experience that is resident in AWS

  • Design and implementation of continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines

  • Build and extend automations for software product development use cases in Autodesk’s private cloud and in the public cloud

  • Design and build automation solutions to reduce manual efforts and increase team efficiency

  • Partner with your software development peers to provide a unified culture of engineering pride and excellence

  • Provide third-level troubleshooting of systems and isolate the source of failure

  • Coordinate with a cross-functional team in diagnosing issues and initiating appropriate actions for repair or mitigation and provide appropriate status communications to management

  • Interact with various product development teams to understand requests/issues, establish clear expectations, and provide effective communication

Minimum Qualifications

  • Demonstrable knowledge ofIaC(Infrastructure as Code) and DevOps expertise.

  • Experience deciding when to use common software design patterns, including server-less design within public cloud (AWS)

  • Comfortable performing requirements analysis, interfacing with stakeholders of various levels and documenting solutions

  • Ability to articulate technical topics to non-technical audiences both in writing, in diagrams and person

  • Energetic team player who works well across boundaries and readily adapts to change and enjoys rapid development

  • Confident of your skills, abilities and willing to share what you know, while learning from others

  • Ability to think and act with an “automation” mindset to problem solving

  • Deals well with ambiguous or undefined problems.

  • Ability to think abstractly and guide others

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

The Ideal Candidate

  • 3+ years ofprofessionalsoftwaredevelopment/automation experience (with technologies such asNode.js, Python, Go, Rest APIs, etc.)

  • Literacy with Agile practices and tools (such as Jira, Kanban, etc.).

  • Strong working experience on Public Cloud Platforms such as Azure and AWS is a must

  • Hands on experience with Configuration management tools such as Chef, Ansible etc.

  • Hands on experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Spinnaker etc.

  • Hands on coding experience with Python and/or Node.js is a must.

  • Ability to articulate technical topics to non-technical audiences both in writing, in diagrams, and in person

  • Bachelor’s Degree or College Diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent experience

  • Drive automation and modernization efforts in current reporting structures and data visualizationsare a plus.

  • Demonstrable knowledge of VMware (ESXi, vSphere), and ApacheCloudStackorAcceleriteCloudPlatform are a plus

  • Literacy with network technologies such as routers, switches, firewalls, and VPN are a plus
