Position Summary: The Communications Specialist takes on a specific function with the North American Communications team. The Specialist role in North American Communications will focus on Online Communications (e.g., Social Media and Digital channels), Brand Standards Management and Design Communications.

For the Specialist position of Online Communications the following roles and responsibilities apply:

  • With support of Head of Communications, co-develop and execute regional online communication strategy for all social media channels and for regional websites.

  • Collaborate with global social media colleagues to contribute to the global editorial calendar for social media content and share global content on regional channels as appropriate.

  • Monitor company social media channels, customer channels and competitor/peer channels for posts that need to be addressed or to identify actions/posts that should be made to the company’s regional channels.

  • Act as a company spokesperson on social media channels to respond to posts, comments and messages from external audiences, and funnel media inquiries or posts that require legal or leadership handling to the appropriate individuals.

  • Create a crisis plan for social media and offer counsel on responses for crisis that either originate on social media or require a social media response.

  • Contribute counsel and activity to developing Division and regional posts, including maintaining an editorial calendar for Division, Regional and Global activity.

  • Provide monthly analytics counsel and revise strategy for social media in real-time as necessary or in response to the changing dynamics of online discussions.

  • Develop a strategic advertising or “boost” strategy for posts, including for functions within the company, such as HR recruiting, that enhance the performance of social media posts and our presence.

  • Contribute to Mexico Online Communications strategy by assisting country specialist in their role.

  • Work with cross-functional internal customers such as HR, engineering, Sales and IT to support communications needs

  • Collaborate with global marketing and communications department to develop and implement strategic communications concepts

  • Work closely with Division communications leads to develop innovative storylines that communicate the company’s goals and strategic initiatives across all regional social media channels

  • Write, copyedit, proofread and revise various communications materials for social media channels and digital communications

  • Provide communications support and counsel to various teams within the organization

  • Identify and monitor new and developing trends in digital communications that could benefit the company’s efforts in the space.

  • Maintain professional knowledge by attending educational workshops, formal training, reviewing professional publications, establishing and expanding professional networks, and participating in professional societies

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or Journalism or related business field

  • 1 + years of PR agency and/or in-house marketing, communications or PR experience, including internships or co-ops

  • Strong communication skills and passion for communications and developing relationships within all levels of the organization

  • Motivated and positive self-starter who is able to work independently, collaboratively and cross-functionally

  • Ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects simultaneously within tight deadlines

  • Ability to travel up to 10 percent of the time including internationally and potentially for extended periods of time

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (e.g. Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) and strongfamiliarity with social media platforms

  • Proven analytical abilities with a high-level of attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently in a fast paced, high-volume environment

  • Ability to interface with cross-functional teams and all levels of personnel and management

Preferred Skills and experience:

  • Project management experience including management of events at remote locations

  • Strong familiarity and experience using AP Style

  • Ability to learn basic technical knowledge quickly and apply learned knowledge

  • Must exude extreme professionalism and understanding of corporate hierarchy and appropriateness

  • Experience in the Automotive industry

  • German and/or Spanish language skills
