Kforce Technician in Milford, Michigan

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Technician in Milford, Michigan (MI).Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare vehicles for emissions testing (hardware, software, calibration updates), submit test requests, coordinate testing

  • Connecting various instrumentation/data acquisition tools to vehicles

  • Input/retrieve data to/from test equipment

  • Conduct various pre/post vehicle conditioning such as fuel changes and other activities

  • Determines proper vehicle and equipment setup given test objectives

  • Provides technical support and leadership

  • Runs all and provides expertise with many special tests

  • Detects and reports subtle and trend type malfunctions

  • Determines and plans project/ task assignments given objectives

  • Records and reports data and pertinent observations completely, accurately and neatly, assembling and distributing the data

  • Works with minimal supervision or technical direction

  • Interacts with all in a positive and professional manner, helping to create a cooperative and constructive approach to problem solving, decision-making and planning

  • Flash vehicles with appropriate calibrations

  • Execute procedures for vehicles to learn diagnostics

  • Coordinate maintenance, hardware updates, software/cal updates, and instrumentation updates on certification vehicles

  • Provide program status tracking and feedback to customers

  • Interface with Program Mileage Dyno to schedule vehicle mileage and to resolve vehicle mileage issues

  • Interface with emissions lab test schedulers to schedule and resolve vehicle emissions test problems

  • Submit test requests for emissions testing

  • Be able to carry out specifically outlined job assignments with some supervision

  • Technical Training beyond High School or equivalent experience

  • 2 years of experience (Educational degrees and/or training may reduce the length of relevant work experience required)

  • Basic knowledge of complex mechanical and/or electrical concepts - 4-6 years of experience

  • Basic math knowledge - 4-6 years of experience

  • Ability to read engineering drawings - 4-6 years of experience

  • Position related experience - 4-6 years of experience

  • Relevant auto industry experience required - Entry level

  • Knowledge of basic automotive systems desired

  • Able to proficiently drive a manual transmission

  • Basic computer skills

  • Knowledge in MS Office (Word) - Intermediate level

  • Knowledge with Lotus Notes or other email communication tool - Intermediate level

  • Strong interpersonal skills involving ability to work effectively cross-functionally and cross-culturally

  • Strong written and oral communication skills necessary for meetings and presentations

  • Ability to work well with others, exhibiting teamwork skills

  • Ability to multi-task by handling diverse assignments concurrently

  • Basic mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback

  • Displays attributes of a critical thinker and leverages innovative ideas

  • Advanced ability to identify issues and problems, generate solutions and choose appropriate alternatives using root cause analysis where problems are more complex
