Job Description

The Role:

We are seeking an experienced, motivated candidate for the role of Vehicle Motion Embedded Controls (VMEC) Model Year Manager to lead and support VMEC leadership in managing our embedded controller strategy. In this role, you will be the single point contact for VMEC Chassis Electronics with program, planning, and purchasing functions within the enterprise to respond to planning studies. You will be interfacing with VMEC leadership in terms of managing the Chassis embedded controller portfolio and developing business cases for special projects. This position includes exposure to high level management such as VMEC directors, vehicle chief engineers, propulsion chief engineers as well as opportunities to network across the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate responses to planning studies

  • Work with the VMEC Propulsion MYM to facilitate the Embedded Controller SMT

  • Provide communication linkage for planning studies and Notice of Decision (NOD) between Planning, Controller PMTs, Embedded Controller SMT, and Propulsion/Vehicle teams

  • Lead special assignments for VMEC leadership

  • Create/Maintain embedded controller rollout plans.Update GM3PD with embedded controller information

Additional Job Description

Minimum Skills and Experience

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent

  • Knowledge of and 4 - 6 years of experience in embedded controls development including several of the following areas:

  • control system integration and testing of hardware and software

  • controller hardware design and failure modes of electronic modules

  • electronic control module, sensor or actuator development, manufacturing and test engineering

  • system/software/hardware requirements development and validation

  • The primary competencies required for this position are:

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • DFSS Certification

  • Prior experience negotiating between parties

  • Knowledge and 5+ years of experience in Embedded Controls

  • Knowledge and experience with ECU controller and data file release process

  • Knowledge and experience in Control system hardware/software implementation, integration and test

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Project Management

  • Demonstrated proficiency in both written and verbal communication

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a Global environment

  • Demonstrated proficiency in planning and organizing, drives for results

  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally

  • Demonstrated ability to build and develop relationships.
