Position: Molykote® Specialty Lubricants Technical Service and Development (TS&D)

Job Overview:

The Transportation and Industrial Business of Dupont® provides high-performance engineering resins, adhesives, and lubricants enabling material systems solutions for the most demanding applications and environments, including aerospace, automotive, medical devices, energy production, and more.

The Molykote® Specialty Lubricants team is currently seeking an innovative Engineer desiring to work within an industrial business demanding a strong customer and solutions focus. The person in this role will be responsible for understanding and translating customer needs into innovative solutions meeting application performance and cost in use requirements.

Additionally, collaborating with R&D to develop new products meeting current and future needs. The candidate must be motivated to deliver positive results for the company, able to work on multiple priorities in parallel and must have a strong desire to apply critical thinking through scientific method to address issues and challenges having direct impact to customer and business.

Job Requirements:

  • Collaborate with customers, ranging from design engineers to end users to identify application needs and translate into test design or product solution.

  • Deliver product and technology training to customers and channel partners.

  • Lead or participate as a core member of an engineering or product commercialization team.

  • Support development of new and modified products to meet customer and market needs.

  • Design experiments and use scientific method to validate solutions, quality issues, or new products. Includes learning and understanding of various industry standards and test methods.

  • Develop expertise with specialty test equipment specific to lubricants – includes collaboration with global tribologist.

  • Explore unique properties of low friction coatings, and advanced lubricants creating value-added, differentiated solutions for customers.

  • Participate in multi-functional team including sales engineers, marketing, supply chain, and others to deliver team and business priorities.


Education/Certification and Job Requirements:

  • Minimum B.S. in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering preferred

  • Six Sigma Green Belt experience a plus

  • Certified Lubricating Grease Specialist (CLGS), Certified Lubrication Specialist (CLS) a plus


  • Candidate should have 2-5 years of related experience.

  • Demonstrated high level of competency of mechanical systems, knowledge of lubricating materials and basics of tribology.

  • Demonstrated high level of integrity, thoroughness, creativity, flexibility, initiative, and productive collaborative teamwork is a must.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and excellent interpersonal communication skills are necessary.

Role Competencies:

  • Must be results-oriented and a self-starter. Must be able to work independently and in a dynamic, multifunction team and deliver on-time driven commitments. Expected to bring forward ideas for improving products and processes and delivering business goals.

  • Demonstrated ability to work through initial concept state through product commercialization.

  • Demonstrated competency in scientific methodology and data analysis tools. Some knowledge of chemistry is a must.

  • Ability to build relationships and use influence management on a wide distribution of functions. Ability to network both internally and externally to drive business and technology goals. Competent customer engagement and interaction is a must.

  • Engagement in external lubricants industry and organization/societies.
