Navistar, Inc. Project Engineer Vehicle Controls Software in Michigan
Position Overview
Navistar Vehicle and Powertrain Controls Software team is responsible for electronic controls and software requirements, design, coding, testing, software integration and releases.
This position is part of Application algorithm team developing Controls and Software logic for all Navistar owned ECU applications including Engine Controls, Body Controls, Chassis Controls, and Predictive Cruise Controls etc.
The Engineer will also have exposure to or participate in the development of closed loop vehicle HIL system that is a critical tool in controls development and test.
Roles and Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:
Development of control algorithms utilizing embedded software development process
Development of controls software requirements, design, simulation, and tests of various electronic control systems
Development of appropriate documentation to support process compliance
Utilization of controls software tools and processes
Functional simulation of developed design using data-replay or plant based closed-loop simulation techniques
Work in a team and contribute to the continuous improvement activities through participation in Lean projects, Navistar’s design standards, process improvements etc.
Problem solving and implementing solutions to the controls software issues
Basic Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
At least 5 years of experience in product design/development
OR
Master’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
At least 3 years of experience in product design/development
OR
- PhD in Engineering or Engineering Technology
Additional Requirements
- Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Desired Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
Embedded software development experience
Engineering tool MatLab, Simulink, MS Visio, INCA calibration tool, Software configuration management tools
Software programming language such as C/C++, embedded software development and testing tools (Canalyzer, HILs etc.)
Experience with plant model, simulation and integration of HIL environments
Functional simulation of developed design using data-replay or plant based closed-loop simulation techniques
Experience with Vehicle, Powertrain or Engine Controls System design
Experience with requirement documentation and system engineering
Experience with engineering and quality design and development methodologies: (8D, FMEA, DVP&R)
Experience in functional areas, such as Cybersecurity, Electric Vehicle Electronics, Autonomous Electronics (Radar, Lidar, Camera, Autonomous processor, etc..), Functional Safety (ISO26262), Vehicle Communications and Network, AUTOSAR Software, Telematics Software, Instrument Cluster software
