Vehicle Simulation Engineer
Division A - Engineering - Braking
Within the braking division of ZF, this position will help with the analysis and design of system level requirements and architecture of our slip control product family.
Slip Control Systems provide active safety support by observing vehicle dynamics, and through autonomously controlling the vehicle, work to mitigate potentially hazardous situations in advance, and even helping to avoid them. We are developing innovative control systems based on the newest camera, laser and radar technologies in automotive electronics.
Our advanced intelligent functions, such as: Emergency Brake Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Change Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Assist, Lane Keeping Support, and Lane Departure Warning.

You are working in an experienced Technical Risk Analysis Team.
Daily support for the running of hardware in the loop (HIL) simulators built for testing state-of-the-art TRW Slip Control systems.
HIL simulators typically include hydraulic lines, electrical harness, brake hardware, electohydraulic control unit, brake pedal, MC and booster, and simulation computer(s).
Engineering responsibilities will include the occasional running of the HIL systems and help with automation scripting, data acquisition, data analysis and reporting under the primary direction of the Simulation Lab lead engineer.
Based upon experience, various modeling support responsibilities, relating to the vehicle systems, may also be required.
Bachelor’s degree plus 3+ years’ experience. Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with Dynamics emphasis preferred.
Previous experience with vehicle simulation, either desktop or real-time, is desired but not required.
Some knowledge of vehicle dynamics is required (modeling, not driving).
Experience in Matlab and Simulink or similar analysis package(s) strongly desired.
Experience with C coding a plus.
Additional knowledge of vehicle system performance, vehicle testing, tire and vehicle dynamics principles, controls techniques and theory is also highly desirable.
Must be able to work with multiple engineers, be creative and be flexible with work assignment timing.
Knowledge of cross-functional systems including electronics and embedded software will enhance a candidate’s ability to impact the organization.
Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident cb This is a growing field and is also an excellent opportunity to learn about advanced vehicle control systems. As the trend increases toward simulated development and validation testing, this discipline will grow to require collaboration with various vehicle manufacturers to define and execute development and testing schemes that reduce overall program timing and costs related to the release of new vehicle programs and chassis control system architectures.
