Wolters Kluwer Sr. Business Intelligence Analyst-Analytics Product Owner in Lansing, Michigan

We are searching for a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst- Analytics Product Owner to join our team. Ideally, we would like this person to be able to come into the Madison office, but we are open to a remote employee.

This position is the product owner for the Analytics & Reporting feature set within Clinical Surveillance & Compliance solutions. Our products are SaaS-delivered software solutions used in hospitals and other healthcare settings. This individual will work with Product Managers for each solution to understand the business requirements for new reports, design the appropriate visualization for data presentation, create report and dashboard mockups to review with internal and external customers, profile data to ensure a requested metric can be calculated, using an Agile development methodology write detailed development cards to capture requirements, and validate delivered reports meet all defined acceptance criteria. This position will interact directly with external and internal clinical leaders within our business and at our customers. This position works with Product Managers to identify and prioritize new reports or dashboards, with product development and QA teams to deliver dashboards, and with customers to review delivered and requested functionality.

Analytics and reporting are a competitive differentiator for Clinical Surveillance & Compliance products, and this role serves as the foundation for maintaining that differentiation. This is a high-profile position with significant exposure to customers and leadership. Success requires technical aptitude working directly with data using tools like SQL, knowledge of data structures and relational data models, working experience with a major visualization tool like Sisense, Tableau or Power BI, business acumen that supports an objective approach to prioritization of the reporting backlog, good communication and organization skills, and the ability to span organizational boundaries to collaborate on projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Actively manage the backlog of analytics & reporting work across all Clinical Surveillance & Compliance business solutions. Work with Product Managers to manage tradeoffs among priorities.

  • Regularly review feature requests submitted by customers and organize them into themes so product managers can make informed investment decisions.

  • Research ideal data visualization for given metrics and design report mockups for review by customers and internal stakeholders, including mocking up reports in the Sisense visualization tools.

  • Develop a deep understanding of each product in the portfolio and the data that the product creates or includes to inform reporting requirements.

  • Manage the delivery of reports and analytics according to customer and roadmap commitments.

  • Create development cards in an Agile framework with detailed requirements for each new report or dashboard.

  • Review requirements with developers and clarify questions to get cards ‘ready for development’.

  • Provide desk check / QA of developed reports.

  • Make priority decisions within the release timeline and communicate changes in expected delivery to the appropriate leaders.

  • Partner with customer facing organizations to provide documentation and training for reporting.

  • Partner with the Technology organization and Product Managers to prioritize work relating to performance, security, platform maintenance and other technology driven work into the release backlog.

  • Partner with the AI/ML team to provide prioritization and product management for new AI/ML-derived features.

  • Work with Client Services to understand and deliver internal reporting that facilitates customer management.

  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Education: A Bachelor of Science (BS) or Bachelor of Arts degree (BA) or equivalent of experience and degree. A Master’s degree or equivalent is desired

Experience:

  • 5 + years’ experience in a business analyst, product owner or product manager role where reporting and analytics was part of the responsibilities.

  • 5 + years of experience in the healthcare industry is strongly preferred. Experience working in software for the acute care hospital market is preferred.

  • Experience delivering SaaS software products to end customers.

  • Experience writing detailed requirements with defined acceptance criteria into ‘stories’ or ‘development cards’ in an Agile development environment.

  • Experience providing project leadership for data-based projects.

  • Expertise in creating and delivering presentations and training to internal users and customers.

  • Demonstrated expertise hands on with technical data tools – for example SQL.

Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Certifications:

  • Demonstrated written, listening, presentation and verbal communication skills

  • Experience or familiarity with scripting languages like JavaScript or Python

  • Experience or familiarity with statistical models, AI, or machine learning projects

Travel Requirements: Travel requirements are variable and may include customer visits, sales trips, trade show attendance, presentations and other travel as required. A typical week does not include travel.

Travel may be as low as 5% and as high as 15%, tends to be irregular in frequency, and can occur on short notice
