We are a team of teams, process and content experts, dedicated to building emA world where tomorrow is healthier than today!/em TITLE: Public Health Informatician - Team Lead$59,717-$89,024 / Posted thru: 10-2-20 EMPLOYEE: TBDSUPERVISOR: Matthew BuckPURPOSE: The Department Specialist will lead all public health informatics-related work in the implementation of the Michigan Disease Surveillance System (MDSS) modernization initiative and other information system projects in public health surveillance and epidemiology. The incumbent's responsibilities will include the coordination and completion of projects on time within budget and within scope. The incumbent will coordinate with a diverse team of epidemiologists, informaticians, subject matter experts (SMEs), technical development teams (both internal and external vendors), system security professionals, and other business areas in the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) and the Department of Technology, Management, and Budget (DTMB). The incumbent will oversee all informatics- and knowledge resource-management aspects of projects and sub-projects on behalf of business ownership team; set deadlines; assign responsibilities; monitor and summarize progress of project; and, prepare reports for response teams and executive leadership regarding the status of the project(s).DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:ulliLeads the development of knowledge management and disease surveillance system tools for the surveillance and epidemiology workforce/liliWill supervise team of informaticians/liliEvaluates information systems and leads development of solution recommendations/liliCoordinates across internal and external technical and non-technical teams at MDHHS, DTMB, and external vendors/liliImplements the use of Public Health and technical standards in solution design and development/liliLeads all project-related informatics activities to ensure that knowledge, information, and functional solutions meet stakeholder needs/liliSupports project teams in the procurement, development, and implementation of system solutions to meet public health program needs/liliMonitors information system and technical operations managed by external partners/liliLeads system integration activities across parallel technical implementations/liliLeads development technical communications and reporting to program leadership, executive leadership, and cross-disciplinary teams/liliConducts education and training in public health informatics and of developed solutions/liliOther duties as assigned/li/ulQUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree with a major in public health, epidemiology, informatics, computer science or other health or computer-related field is required. Master's degree with a concentration in any of these is preferred.Experience: Minimum of two (2) years' experience working in Public Health is required.
