The Department of Technology, Management and Budget supports the business operations of the state agencies through a variety of services including Information Technology project delivery, maintenance and support. This position is with the Agency Services area of DTMB.

This position serves as the first level professional manager responsible for directing the activities of the Program Management & Grants Maintenance Unit, which provides development, maintenance, and support services to the various Bureaus within the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT). This highly visible position manages strategic client relationships and ongoing critical maintenance activities to ensure MDOT’s IT needs are being met. The position is also responsible for the daily management of multiple IT resources (specialists, programmer/analysts, and consultants), including development and maintenance task resourcing, providing guidance and assistance in establishing priority for all work being done, ensuring the work is completed in an efficient and timely manner, and usual office administration duties, such as approving time and leave requests and performance management. The position also requires considerable contact with other department managers, administrators, and resources within and outside the division to ensure necessary IT services are provided to MDOT.

Required Education and Experience

Possession of a bachelor's degree with not less than 21 semester (32 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: computer science, data processing, computer information systems, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, information assurance, IT project management or mathematics.
Three years of professional experience equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure, Programmer/Analyst or IT Project Coordinator P11 or one year equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure, Programmer/Analyst or IT Project Coordinator 12. Alternate Education and Experience
Three years of experience as a computer programming supervisor or Information Technology Supervisor may be substituted for the education and experience.
