Individuals filling these roles will be respponsible for the inputting of natural gas distribution work order data into an Enterprise GIS Database. The Gas GIS Department is also responsible for data maintenance and cleanup activities in the Enterprise GIS Database as well as supporting other departments in their integration and use of GIS.Job Description/ResponsibilitiesTechnicians will be responsible for:•Interpreting as-built information coming from the field and using ESRI ArcGIS software to input natural gas distribution work orders into an Enterprise GIS Database as well as maintaining and improving existing data.•Maintenance of data relating to regulatory compliance.•Production of specialty maps using spatial analysis.•Production of reports for users to efficiently operate the gas system.•Additional job duties could include helping maintaining other corporate GIS Assets.Required Qualifications•Two-year associate degree in scientific or technical field with a minimum of 48 credit hours measured on a semester basis in scientific or technical classes.The following skills may set you apart from others:•6+ years of applicable experience•A qualified candidate should have proficiency in using GIS software•Proven ability to read and interpret construction drawings•Demonstrated ability to train and lead others•Manage multiple projects•Meet deadlines and make independent decisions within guidelines•Be self-motivated with the ability to manage their workload effectively with little supervision•Actively learn new skills, systems, and procedures•Analytical, Dependable, Logical Thinking, Windows XP or later, Microsoft Office, GIS Concepts•GIS Bachelor's degreeEssential Functions•Performs technical support functions and more complex tasks including establishing workload and organizing and conducting assignments according to deadlines.•Sets up tech support systems including record maintenance, data submission, and project management.•Provides backup department support.•Prepares reports and tech support material as directed from time to time.•Maintains confidentiality.•Performs or establishes procedures for tech support functions and actions including records, tracking of information, maintaining logs/spreadsheet, and other similar technical support.•Under general direction, prepares special or one-time reports, summaries, or replies to inquiries, selecting relevant information from a variety of sources such as reports, documents, correspondence, other areas of the Company, etc.•Ensures that requests for action or information are relayed to appropriate staff members; ensures that information is furnished in a timely manner; decides whether a higher authority should be notified of important or emergency matters.•Periodically evaluates
