This is a unique opportunity for a full time ASP.NET Web Developer to serve in a leadership role as a Software Engineer designing & programming complex APIs and web applications. You will be involved in developing web and native mobile technology that supports Hillsdale College’s online courses that serve over 1.5 million unique users, as well as helping to develop solutions that support eCommerce and electronic donation operations of the College.

We develop primarily on a Microsoft platform, so 10+ years experience working with ASP.NET, ASP.NET MVC, SQL Server and Visual Studio are a must. You must be proficient in C# and have a demonstrated track record of learning and adopting new languages and platforms.

We're looking for someone who can communicate clearly in writing and verbally. To fit in best with our team, we'd prefer someone who is positive about life, easy going, eager to dive into projects, meet deadlines, and can speak candidly, yet respectfully.

You should have a good handle on writing code that protects against SQL injection, web injection, XSS, cross site forgery and related attacks against web applications.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Work as a member of the Information Technology team in a focused capacity with the Institutional Advancement team (i.e., fundraising & donor development) to collaborate with management and staff to help guide strategic planning and use of technology to maximize efficiency in fundraising operations.

  • Plan and design business intelligence dashboards together with Institutional Advancement leaders and the I.T. business intelligence team.

  • Collaborate closely with the CRM administration team and I.T. business intelligence team to optimize CRM operations to most efficiently support I.A. operations.

  • Participate in planning budgets, timelines, and resource coordination for technology-related projects.

  • Working together with other departments and teams on strategic objectives as necessary and applicable.

  • Maintain confidentiality in all information.

  • Assist in after-hour activities as needed.

  • Perform additional duties as the Information Systems Manager may assign.

  • Maintain an acceptable attendance record, be punctual and meet deadlines.

  • Seek training to enhance and/or learn new skills.

Education and Experience

  • Computer Science degree is a plus, but not mandatory if you have a demonstrated grasp of software design and programming fundamentals

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a significant software design and development role

Physical Requirements

Ability to operate basic office equipment to include, photocopier, fax machine, computer equipment, display monitors and the like. Position is largely sedentary, but may require the incumbent to walk, stoop, crouch, or climb.

  • WCAG/ADA accessibility standards knowledge is a plus
