Job Description:

Dematic has an immediate needs for a Solution Development Manager in the Grand Rapids, MI area.

Under limited supervision, the Solution Development Manager will supervise the Customer Service Solution Development Group’s Solution Design Engineering Team comprised of Controls, Mechanical, and Software. The Solution Development Manager is responsible for the evaluation of new estimate opportunities and makes assignments based on area of expertise and workload. The Solution Development Manager will provide direction and guidance of the Design Engineering Team in all aspects of Dematic’s products and Customer Service offerings. The Solution Development Manager is expected to work with other groups with the Solution Development Group to ensure the success of opportunities. They will also work with all departments of Dematic to ensure safe, low risk, creative and competitive estimates are developed to a client’s needs. They will assist in developing the quality and quantity of work performed.

The Solution Development Manager will co-facilitate/participate in weekly meetings and ensure reporting accuracy as well as coordinate and resolve all assignment deliveries. They will also assist with recruiting and training of all Design Engineers.

Core Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Advanced degree or professional engineering certification and five years relevant material handling project or estimating experience

  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated familiarity with Dematic’s current documentation and presentation tools

  • Demonstrated experience with Dematic’s legacy and new product lines

  • Demonstrated experience in opportunity qualification and solution design

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, direct, motivate, and coordinate activities of a design engineering team

  • Successfully defines work flows, jobs, and reporting relationships to obtain optimum effectiveness.

  • Impact of decisions on business operations can have a moderate to high level of impact.

  • May develop departmental budgets and business plans for functional area.

  • May evaluate and recommend changes in methods or procedures in own area of responsibility.

  • Identifies resource needs and may develop justification.

  • Troubleshoots and resolves complex problems.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage numerous opportunities, deadlines and personnel issues

  • Proven ability to reliably forecast and report on the status of proposals

  • Familiarity with IPS, PQR and SalesForce estimating tools

  • Proven ability to obtain, evaluate and compile pricing of opportunities. This includes presentation to management
