Meijer Pricing Analyst in Grand Rapids, Michigan

Currently, Meijer is looking for a Pricing Analyst. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining pricing analytical direction for a group of categories using statistical software and analysis. Recommends and applies various appropriate statistical models to business challenges using pricing, competitor and customer data. Also includes creating insightful data that enables achieving financial goals through the incorporation of historical data, consumer, marketing, and competitor that impact category sales, margin, and rate performance. This role is directly responsible for using fact-based analytics to develop insights in order to strengthen recommendations around lifecycle pricing strategy.

Key Deliverables:

  • Collaborate with pricing and merchandising leadership to conceptualize business issues, develop data and translate into appropriate lifecycle pricing strategies

  • Manages, analyzes, and recommends price changes against a group of categories in the system

  • Communicate pricing trends and supporting analytics to pricing, merchandising, planning, and marketing

  • Determine areas of business where innovative analytical solutions may be used to drive business growth, create analysis and develop recommendations

  • Utilize advanced pricing response models for strategic merchandising initiatives

  • Educate and influence business partners to improve understanding/reliance on advanced analytics in making pricing decisions

  • Develop pricing strategy presentations and communicate them to merchandising leadership

  • Create relevant category analytical tools that encompass pricing data, consumer trends, customer segmentation, loyalty, and competitor insights

  • Evaluate effectiveness of lifecycle pricing strategies, identify gaps and opportunities, and recommend refinements to strategy

  • Apply fact based analytics and reporting that are necessary to strengthen lifecycle pricing recommendations that drive bottom line results

  • Create visibility and system enhancements that will govern lifecycle pricing recommendations and enhance financial, channel, competitive and customer pricing strategies

  • Evaluate and recommend supporting pricing analytics and scorecards necessary to drive business growth and pricing effectiveness

  • Apply data-driven analytics to strengthen and define the following: price zones, competitive index, competitive levels, standardized price rule guidelines, etc.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics or commensurate retail experience required.

  • 2 years experience in retail, analysis, and/or pricing preferred

  • Proficient in a wide range of analytical, quantitative, and statistical techniques and tools to derive insights from large, complex data environments

  • Exceptional ability to extract strategic insights from large data sets

  • Excellent communication skills: listening, verbal and written

  • Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills

  • Strong work ethic complemented with a positive, can-do attitude

  • Office computer skills required: preference for Microsoft application experience

  • Advanced regression modeling and Advanced Excel skills required

  • Experience with statistical analysis software packages (e.g., SAS, SPSS, Stata) required

  • Ability to learn company systems and tools
