MedData Network Operation Center Engineer in Grand Rapids, Michigan

MedData has an excellent career opportunity available as a Network Operation Center Engineer in Grand Rapids, MI. The schedule for this Full Time role is Sunday- Wednesday 9pm- 7am with flexibility as needed.


The NOC Engineer and Solarwinds SME is responsible for maintaining and managing the NOC’s day to day operations. In this position, you will be a critical point of contact between MedData’s IT department and the rest of the business. NOC Engineer will be responsible for leading a team of NOC Technicians while also working alongside them handling a full workload. We are looking for a leader with strong communication and problem-solving skills, who also has the ability to delegate responsibilities and to make sure all assigned tasks are being completed in adherence of MedData standards.


  • Subject Matter Expert on Solarwinds NPM, SAM, and NCM, and growing and maintaining the Solar Winds application infrastructure.

  • Works closely with the Infrastructure and Applications teams to troubleshoot and understand system faults and application performance issues.

  • Responsible for the development and communication of reports for Network Health, outages, MOP's and Routine Maintenance with upper level management.

  • Responsible for the development and standardization of NOC processes and procedures.

  • Responsible for the development, documentation and communication all network activity.

  • Responsible for accurately analyzing trends in trouble history.

  • Provide 24/7 technical support for NOC as needed.

  • Provides root cause analysis of chronic or repeat trouble reports, and catastrophic events.

  • Research, resolve, and respond to internal and client issues within scope of the NOC team’s responsibilities in a timely manner, these include but are not limited to Solar Winds monitoring, Cherwell ticketing entry, helpdesk management and hardware inventory control management.

  • Reviews and monitors all system performance reports, scheduling necessary actions to avoid system degradation and customer service interruptions.

  • Responsible for the development and standardization of alarm profiles for all network elements.

  • Responsible for the creation and maintenance of a comprehensive vendor contact and escalation list.

  • Create and identify additional Network Measurements/Metrics that will show Performance Metrics are in line with Quality of Service goals and Service Level Agreement (SLA) guarantees.

  • Support optimization of the networks through diagnostics. Resolve repetitive network problems by analyzing network characteristics and recommending additions, removals, and modifications to the network topology.

  • Work closely with the Infrastructure team to gather, analyze, and summarize recommendations for network improvements.

  • Assess risk, strategic impact and short and long term needs with emphasis on network quality improvements.

  • Other duties as assigned

  • 3 – 6 years of Network Operations with Solar Winds experience required.

  • 4+ years of previous hardware/software experience preferred.

  • Established track record in IT technologies (VMware, Windows Server, Database, Data Center and Client/Server Application Support).

  • Produce high standard deliverables.

  • Experience interacting with external customers.

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

  • Good documentation skills.

  • Strong organization, time management, and prioritizing skills.

  • Completed High School Diploma/GED

  • CCNA and MCSE certifications desired

  • CompTIA Network+, Security+ preferred

  • Solar Winds certification is strongly preferred


  • College Graduate or equivalent experience
