Job Summary

Leads and manages operational improvement projects throughout the organization including both clinical and non-clinical areas to accomplish measurable business process improvements. Works on the most complex assignments. Analyzes and measures the effectiveness of existing processes and helps to develop sustainable, repeatable and quantifiable clinical and business process improvements. Collects and analyzes process and quality data to initiate, develop, and recommend operational practices and procedures that focus on enhanced safety, increased productivity, and reduced cost. May focus on quality or process improvement. Provides mentoring, training and informal leadership to less experienced team members.

Essential Functions

  • Supports executive sponsors accountable for strategically important programs by developing recommendations and operational plans to achieve system goals.

  • Responsible for developing and maintaining cross-entity participation and collaboration to operationalize integration through change management, communication, organizational development, resource alignment, and other relevant strategies to accomplish organizational mission. Responsible for driving identification and development of any new processes, infrastructure and resources needed to support strategic deployment initiative.

  • Responsible for development and measurement of key performance indicators.

  • Works closely with various levels of leadership to identify the duplication points, impact on and connection between all organizational entities on an on-going basis. Identify risks associated with competing schedules, resources, and priorities.

  • Participates on committees/task forces as member, consultant, and/or chair, as needed. Acts as a mentor to others.

  • Serves as a liaison between various departments across the Spectrum Health System. Communicates, collaborates, networks with and acts as a consultant to key stakeholders in order to ensure continuity and coordination of services and appropriate utilization of resources. Responsible for stakeholder management, particularly stakeholders external to the organization.

  • Responsible for determining and maintaining program budget.


  • Required Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in health care management, business, finance or related field

  • Preferred Master's Degree

  • 10 years of relevant experience in healthcare administration, quality, or clinical area, preferably within a large healthcare system that includes ambulatory and hospital care, employed medical staff model, and long-term care; experience within non-healthcare companies of like complexity and size will be considered; OR Required

  • Sustained success (as defined by department) in a fully-qualified or senior-level feeder role within SH Performance Improvement or similar project management area Required
