Role Summary:

The Advanced Lead Engineer will lead the design, development, implementation and verification of automatic test equipment and test programs for design verification, hardware qualification and production testing. This will include the design of electronic circuits, writing test software to attain full test automation, development of production test procedures and reports, and the support and maintenance of all production test equipment over the entire product life cycle.

Essential Responsibilities:

The Advanced Lead Engineer will demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals/programs/processes for an area or business segment, will be experienced in solving both technical and project management problems and will be able to develop and execute objectives for self and others. This role has the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned individual and team projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements

  • Provide technical leadership to personnel/ cross functional teams supporting the assigned project

  • Implement plans with guidance to meet technical requirements of assigned components and systems

  • Develop action plans with guidance to respond to issues/ problems

  • Lead or participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues

  • Recommend, with guidance, the approach to meet the technical and program requirements

  • Participate and present or review in technical and program reviews

  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures

  • Specify and design new production test equipment by understanding new products in Development.

  • Create test design documentation including test specifications, drawings and verification plans.

  • Provide technical support to manufacturing including hands-on debug of test systems.

  • Generate test software in National Instruments TestStand and LabWindows/CVI

  • Generate test software in C, C++, C#

  • Contribute to the company‚Äôs production engineering objectives regarding new product introduction, process improvement and lean manufacturing.

  • Coordinate with sub-contractors to implement production testing and training of local support personnel.

  • Work closely with the R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering teams.


  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 10 years of experience in Engineering).

  • At least 5 additional years of experience in the development of automated test equipment for manufacturing test of complex electronics


  • This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience in developing tests for automatic execution.

  • Experience in the complete test development life cycle of products.

  • Experience in product production and manufacturing techniques and processes (e.g. Lean, Kaizen, 5S).

  • Experience developing tests with National Instruments products (e.g. TestStand and LabWindows CVI.

  • Experience developing software in one or more software languages (e.g. C++, C#).

  • Experience with design capture tools for schematics, bill of materials and CAD drawings.
