Eaton Corporation Master Technician in Galesburg, Michigan
Eaton’s Vehicle division is currently seeking a Master Technician to join our team. This position is based at our Galesburg, MI facility.
The primary function of this position is to receive, inspect, test, and distribute returned product to enable the administration of Eaton Truck Group’s product warranties. Expectations are to produce a high integrity level of inspection and test data that is consistent and accurate.

In this function you will:
Provide support to the Warranty Return operations by traveling to assigned location to perform product inspections supporting the Warranty adjudication process.
Administer warranty policies and procedures supporting the adjudication for each product and customer with respect to the warranty return center responsibilities. Identify and implement changes to warranty administration, policies, failure mode trends, and operational costs.
Lead warranty return material reviews to include onsite and offsite customer reviews in the presence of customer representatives.
Lead implementation and audit of each of Eaton Business System elements (safety, 5S, Value Stream Mapping, and EHS) policies and procedures. This includes leading daily and monthly audits. Prepare and maintain process documentation as assigned.
Accomplish assigned tasks while complying with all metrics, claim quality, safety, 5S and EHS policies.
Provide process and technical support to facilitate problem-solving efforts as assigned.
Provide training on warranty inspection and failure analysis of the truck products for internal team members. Serve as a mentor for new Warranty employees and contractors.
Subject matter expert identifying current and emerging failure trends. Communicate observances to appropriate Engineer, technical expert, or Reliability team and report out to supervisor.
Support the warranty coordinators to expedite claim adjudication to customers by providing detailed RMA inspection data following documented processes.
Lead failure analysis inspections and tests to discover root cause of failed field returns.
Record any measurable statistics which your position impacts such as production expenses, maintenance expenses, sales volumes, payroll costs, capital expenditures, research budgets, cost of purchases, value of inventories controlled, employees supervised (direct and indirect).
Maintain data integrity – Data utilized by the Reliability, Engineering, Quality, EHS, and Management teams.
Ensure OEM/Customer satisfaction through consistent warranty claim RMA processing within the parameters of the Truck Warranty Process Policies, while minimizing costs and resource consumption.
Meet the established claims per man hour worked and various metric goals for the warranty return center and individual. Maintain daily statistics for time study per activities.
Meet profit plan schedule and deliverables
Drive continuous improvement activities to support growth of Warranty Return Center inspection procedures, test equipment, and products.

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
High School Diploma (GED) required
Minimum of one (1) year of experience in quality and/or failure identification/analysis
Minimum of one (1) year of experience with warranty systems
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship both now and in the future
No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates who currently reside within 50 miles of the Galesburg, MI facility will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
Associate degree/Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing or Automotive Engineering or equivalent.
Experience using Lean Tools, including include Value Stream Mapping and Business Process Improvement.
Experience with MS software package (e.g., Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Access, Outlook, SharePoint, and Power Point etc.).

Demonstration of Eaton Leadership Model.
Knowledgeable of truck products nomenclature, understanding of transmission and clutches: power flow, basic mechanical and electrical failure analysis, and failure modes.
Knowledgeable in Eaton warranty systems, knowledge base systems, and reference data bases.
Strong organizational and communication (written & oral) skills to all levels of the organization.
Usage and understanding of variable and attribute gages
Demonstration of sound problem solving and analytical skills.
Ability to work concurrently on multiple projects while tracking and reporting out on the progress of each project at regular intervals.
Ability to work independently and accomplish all tasks with minimal supervision.
Ability to utilize hand and power tools.
Must be able to lift 35 lbs. frequently, 70 lbs. occasionally with team method.
Must be able to continuously stand, twist, bend, squat, stoop, lift, maneuver, and walk.
Must be able to pass forklift, crane, and various EHS required tests for licenses/compliance.
