What you'll do here:

As a Senior Software Engineer your role is hands-on. You will be writing lots of code and interacting with a lot of developers across the organization. You are going to help us with building out the next revision of our identity and access platform (IAM). You will be a part of a team that is setting the new standard for how an industry leader resolves a user’s identity.

  • Pair programs with different people in many situations.

  • Coaches/mentors associate team members while they expand and improve their skill sets.

  • Continuously learns, and is unafraid to learn new practices, processes, technologies, and languages. Saying “I don’t know” is okay!

  • Commits to completing well-defined work, and delivers on those commitments.

  • Leads in the breakdown, estimation, and design of small increments of work.

  • Tests solutions with the utmost scrutiny. Remember: We love testing and hate downtime!

  • Security is taken seriously and protecting student and instructor data is thought about in every aspect of the SDLC.

Skills You Will Need Here:

  • 4+ years experience in JavaScript/Node.js

  • Strong understanding of React.js concepts and modern front-end tooling

  • Must have strong teamwork orientation and the ability to foster collaboration

  • within and across teams.

  • Knowledge of and desire to work in an Agile/Lean development environment.

  • Ability to test-drive clean, quality code, and work closely with other Agile team

  • members.

  • Testing knowledge and a keen eye for edge cases.

  • Leads in driving tasks to completion.

  • Ability to perform root cause analysis, technology evaluation, and design spikes.


  • Participates in open source projects.

  • Experience in internationalization within React.

  • Experience working with AWS web hosting.

  • Experience with a variety of software development applications, environments, and languages

  • Passion for working in the academic, professional or library markets, and experience with technologies within those markets such as e-Readers
