Job Description

Summary

In your role as a diagnostic calibration engineer, you will calibrate, test, validate, and release diagnostic function calibrations with a high level of complexity and technical innovation for varying vehicle propulsion types (gasoline, diesel, electrified, or other).

Major Duties Include:

  • Setting of control system parameters with respect to diagnosis of correct component / system performance obtain project and regulatory requirements.

  • Optimization according to engineering targets regarding diagnosis of the component system. Optimization includes proper assurance of operation in the field including statistical robustness validation.

  • Evaluation and presentation of diagnostic related powertrain, engine, and vehicle test results to internal and external parties.

  • Verification of engine and vehicle emissions control device operation for capability to achieve required emission level.

  • Support of customer and engineers from other department in diagnostic related propulsion and engine performance topics.

  • Must be willing and able to travel up to 12 weeks per year.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive, or Computer Engineering or other Science Degree.

  • 2 or more years of control system experience (emissions control or diagnostics). Experience can include academic, co-op, internship or direct hire.

  • 2 or more years of experience with planning, conducting, evaluation, and documentation of test results. Experience can include academic, co-op, internship or direct hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive, or Computer Engineering

  • Ideally 5 more years of control system experience (emissions control or diagnostics)

  • Ideally 5 or more years of experience with planning, conducting, evaluation, and documentation of test results

  • Strong Interest in mechatronics and controls theory

  • Team oriented approach with ability to learn quickly with changing software, hardware, and vehicle propulsion technology

  • Experience with Bosch engine control systems

  • Experience in calibration or design of OBDII systems and familiarity with the 1968.2 regulation including associated SAE diagnostic standards

  • Familiar with calibration and data analysis tools (INCA, ASCET, Matlab / Simulink, CANalyzer, etc.)

  • Hands-on experience with edrive/engine/electronic diagnostic system optimizations.

  • Vehicle related hobbies
