H.W. Kaufman Group IT Project Manager in Farmington Hills, Michigan

Position Summary:

As an integral member of the H. W. Kaufman IT PMO team, you will help transform the organization by improving project and program maturity and lead transformational and business defining projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the PMO to analyze project requests to determine time frame, funding and appropriate process for accomplishing projects

  • Project delivery, including developing and maintaining plans, human resource management, financial management, driving project decisions, status reporting, deliverables tracking, communication, risk management, issue resolution and course correction, if needed

  • Primary interface for projects: coordinating with internal IT teams, all levels of the organization, customers, vendor partners and business unit representatives

  • Work with business analysts to provide advice and counsel to the business customers on solution options, costs, timelines, designs and business readiness

  • Secure acceptance and approval of scope and deliverables from project sponsors, key customers and stakeholders.

  • Facilitate the implementation of solutions in a cost effective manner by determining the requirements of a project or program, enabling solutioning, design and implementation

  • Work with PMO team to help lead the development, evolution and adoption of SDLC (waterfall/agile), processes and tools to drive the IT organization into its next phase of maturity

  • Continuously benchmark project management performance to identify improvements and achieve higher capability maturity in project and portfolio management.

  • Mentor junior colleagues and novice team members in project management discipline

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, business administration, or equivalent work experience

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certified preferred

  • 5 or more years in Information Technology and business/industry

  • 5 or more years working on moderate-to-complex projects or systems

  • Experiece with cross-functional Salesforce project management is preferred

  • Agile/Lean methodologies, with Waterfall experience preferred

  • Quantification of estimates and resource requirements

  • Must have excellent communication and relationship building competency, including presentation skills

  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate and influence at all management levels and with both technical and non-technical individuals and successfully manage in a cross-functional environment

  • Risk assessment, problem resolution, negotiation, and influencing skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to explain technology in business terms

  • An effective multi-tasker with excellent organizational skills and an attention for detail

  • Prior participation or leadership within a project management office preferred

  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Project (or similar tool)

  • IT management and staff: managers, supervisors, individual contributors

  • Business unit executives and staff

  • Other business function staff (e.g. finance, HR, compliance, legal, etc.)

  • Outside vendor
