h3Working/Functional Title/h3 Software Controls Engineer h3Position Summary/h3 The Software Controls Engineer will design, develop, deploy, and support the FRIB EPICS-based control system; function as architect and main developer for high level applications to support accelerator operations and experimental systems; integrate advanced hardware systems and architectures to support artificial intelligence and machine learning functionalities in accelerator operations and experimental science. Analyzes subsystem requirement, proposes technical solution, implements the end to end solution, hands over to operation, and provides continuous support. Architect an integrated high-level application environment; lead the development effort to provide seamless integration between low-level EPICS controls and high-level applications based on Python, C/C++, Java. liAnalyze subsystem requirement, determine the technical solution, implement the end to end solution and hand over to operation, provides continuous support/li liDesign, implement, and standardize high level applications to support beam commissioning and operation/li liDesign, implement, and manage database solutions for FRIB operations/li liInterface with operations, commissioning team, and hardware groups to provide prompt support/li liAssist with integration of various hardware devices to be compliant with FRIB standards/li liCollaborate with EPICS community to maintain and improve controls infrastructure/li liExecute work to meet milestones and performance objectives (cost, scope and schedule)/li liExecute work according to approved work control plans/li liStop work when discrepant conditions are encountered and inform line management/li liPerform work with quality and in safe manner/li liCreate and implement new complex systems and progressive science and technology/li liAssure completion of work to achieve milestones and goals/li liCollaborate with leaders to build a success-orientated culture/li liMaintain lab-wide policies, procedures and standards/li liDevelop project and/or elements of systems work scope, cost, and schedule/li liManage and prioritize resources and equipment allocation for projects and/or systems/li liExecute work to meet project objectives/li liIdentify new initiatives/li liSupervise work of specialty teams and/or groups/li liServe as Responsible Person for Export Control Access Control Plan/li liExcellent communication skills to present approaches, plans and findings both verbally and through written reports to peers, management and external stakeholders/li liParticipate in and supervise the design, fabrication, assembly, testing and operation of advanced instrumentation systems supporting the goals of the Laboratory''s research programs/li liReports to group leader or department manager/li liInterfaces with team members, group leaders, project leaders, subject matter experts and suppliers/li liInterfaces with installation technician and test technician/li /ul h3Required Degree/h3 Masters h3Minimum Requirements/h3 Staff Engineer: style="list-style-type: disc" liMasterand#8217;s degree and 5+ years of experience in related industry; or equivalent combination of education, experience, and publications/li liExcellent understanding of distributed control system software and hardware/li liExcellent programming skills in C/C++, Python, Java/li liFamiliarity with Linux operating systems like Debian/li liDemonstrated ability to develop and deploy software applications w
