Senior Systems Administrator

SET SEG is looking for a Senior Systems Administrator with a strong security background to research, implement, manage, and troubleshoot new technologies as a key member of our IT infrastructure team in delivering reliable, secure, and robust solutions to our organization and the school members we serve. This role is responsible for managing Windows servers, network devices, desktops and security devices. This person will also serve as a mentor to junior team members. A successful candidate will need to be self-starter able to work independently within established frameworks.

You have five or more years of experience in IT infrastructure along with a background in information security. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Installing, administering, and troubleshooting network and system solutions

  • Evaluating endpoints on a scheduled basis for vulnerabilities and remediating these in a timely manner

  • Developing infrastructure monitoring policies, procedures and alerting

  • Updating server operating systems as needed

  • Architecting and implementing infrastructure solutions

  • Creating network policies and authorization roles to defend against unauthorized access, modifications, and destruction

  • Staying abreast of new technologies by researching, testing, and leading new implementation initiatives

  • Ensuring daily infrastructure operations procedures are followed

  • Demonstrating passion for documenting solutions and training teammates

  • Serving as an escalation point for junior teammates


  • Bachelor?s or master?s degree in math, computer science, engineering or other analytic field or equivalent work experience

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience or 7+ years of total IT work experience

  • A strong background in administering and troubleshooting server virtualization technologies

  • Positive attitude, strong problem-solving skills, good written and verbal communications skills, strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, desire for meaningful work and real responsibility, customer service skills, committed to personal development

  • Work autonomously on large, complex projects and takes responsibility for results-based outcomes of group efforts

  • Fluent in PowerShell and other scripting languages

  • A strong understanding and knowledge of computer, network, and security systems

  • Automation-first mindset

Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced training certifications are preferred

  • Previous experience developing disaster recovery plans

Physical Demands / Work Environment

Several hours per day at a sit/stand desk, average mobility to move around an office environment; able to move and install computer equipment throughout the building. Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance is required. May require on-call availability and may require working during non-business hours and on weekends.
