Position Summary

Major Position Responsibilities

  • Analyze subsystem requirements, propose technical solutions, implement end-to-end solutions, and provide continuous support

  • Design, prototype, develop, implement, and maintain FRIB physics applications

  • Develop and/or improve high performance accelerator simulation code

  • Develop and/or improve the physics applications environment

  • Develop and maintain complete and accurate documentation of processes, find means to improve productivity, and ensure that documentation is available, up-to-date and complete

Required Degree

Masters -Physics or Engineering

Desired Degree

Doctorate -Physics or Engineering

Minimum Requirements

  • Advanced degree in Physics or Engineering

  • Record of accomplishment in filed of expertise

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with operating systems such as Debian Linux is highly desired

  • Demonstrated experience with the design, setup, execution, and analysis of experiments with software development and deployment

  • Experience in programming: Python, Java, JavaScript, or C/C++ is highly desired

  • Experience with scientific computing, especially for charged particle beam dynamics simulation program development, is highly desired

  • Familiarity with large-scale controls systems development and techniques (EPICS is highly desired)

  • Familiarity with charged particle beam dynamics, particle accelerator physics, or particle accelerator operations
