Position Summary

The Information Technologist II on the Mobile team is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and deploying mobile solutions to MSU’s campus community. The person in this position will contribute to the long-term success of mobile and other strategically important software development projects at Michigan State. The ideal candidate loves making software, has experience with a variety of tools and technologies, learns quickly, and cares about the user experience they are building.

MSU Information Technology provides the primary leadership for strategic, financial, and policy initiatives affecting information technology (IT) across MSU. MSU IT offers technology resources that support MSU’s mission of providing education, conducting research, and advancing engagement.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge normally acquired in earning a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Three to five years of experience developing software professionally. Experience with at least one of the following: Java, C++, C, C#, Objective-C, Ruby, Python, Swift, Kotlin, Scala, Haskell, Clojure, Lisp or Smalltalk. Experience with relational databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle DB, SQL Server.

Desired Qualifications

Experience with native mobile platforms (iOS, Objective-C, Android, Swift, Kotlin, Java); experience with web technologies (HTML, JavaScript, CSS); experience with a modern front-end JavaScript framework (Angular.js, Ember, React, VueJS); experience with test-driven development; experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure); experience with user-driven design and development.
