Instructional Designer

Position Summary

Instructional Designers work with faculty and other University clients, as well as team members (artists, programmers, student developers) to consult, develop, and produce complete technology-enhanced courses for online, blended, and face-to-face programs. If offered this position, you will be a thought leader charged with developing innovative and engaging learning experiences. This person should employ current pedagogy and strategies to analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate academically-rigorous curriculum.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in education, education technology, higher educational administration, program evaluation, education psychology, instructional design; a background in teaching and/or instructional design; knowledge of current instructional design frameworks and methods; One to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in an information technology area related to the duties to be performed; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

A master's degree in education, education technology, higher educational administration, program evaluation, education psychology, instructional design or related field; project planning, coordination and/or management experience; demonstrated experience managing online curricular and programmatic projects in online, blended and/or face-to-face modalities; demonstrated knowledge of universal design and A11Y methods; experience organizing, developing, and delivering faculty development workshops; knowledge of, or experience with the Quality Matters framework; experience with multimedia tools, including digital video, and other emerging technologies related to delivery of interactive content over the Internet; experience and/or interest in special projects (MOOCs, CBE, badging etc.); experience with project management methods and processes; experience with design thinking, UX and/or human-centered design methods; demonstrated ability to work through a design process with multiple constituencies; experience with learning management systems such as Desire2Learn, Blackboard, Moodle, or Canvas; Developing active learning experiences and experiential education; teaching experience in STEM subject areas; strong relationship development and problem solving skills; experience in an educational setting, excellent communication skills; knowledge of current and emerging instructional technologies; ability to work well in a team environment.
