Minimum Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience in leadership, mentorship and/or administration

  • 3 years of experience using work-item tracking tools

  • 3 years of experience on a software delivery team or relevant experience

  • 5 years of experience leading a team that programs in C#, .NET, PHP, Java, Progress, or similar object oriented/functional programming languages

  • Extensive knowledge of supported business domains

  • Extensive knowledge of technology standards, including architecture, design and integration

  • Extensive experience building a team that implements technology standards that meet architecture, design and integration patterns

  • Extensive knowledge of different roles on the team(s) and the responsibilities of each (e.g., product owners, release train engineers, software engineers, architects and other leadership)

  • Demonstrated ability to leverage business processes and systems, application/system workflows, user scenarios and data needs for their team(s) product(s) domain to partner with others on driving the vision

  • Proven ability with leading and mentoring team members in complex scenarios and all software development life cycle phases

  • Demonstrated ability to leverage Agile metrics to guide the team and peers on best practices in becoming self-organizing

  • Proven ability to coordinate tech incident resolutions both inside and outside of their immediate team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, marketing, project management or equivalent experience

  • 5 years of experience using Team Foundation Server, Jira, etc.

  • Experience programming in C#, .NET, PHP, Java, Progress or similar object oriented/functional programming languages

  • Certified SAFe Scrum Master and/or SAFe POPM

Job Summary

The Senior Team Leader, Engineering is a servant leader not only to the team(s) within their area, but to peer leaders who strive for excellence in leadership. This leader serves as a mentor for their peers on building teams that implement technologically superior products, learning data-driven experimentation and leveraging metrics to guide the team in becoming self-organizing. As a Senior Team Leader, this person is responsible for elevating team member and peer leader performance and has demonstrated their ability to mentor and lead at a higher caliber.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate, promote and demonstrate continued success in holding themselves, team members and peers accountable to the culture and mission of the company

  • Lead and mentor their team and peers to plan, design, build and deploy high-quality software that meets or exceeds the technical standards of technology

  • Work with their team members and peers to create and accomplish goals that assist in their professional development

  • Act as a team facilitator and coordinate a proactive mitigation plan by understanding the potential risks to quality, predictability, flow and velocity

  • Address roadblocks and help the team(s) focus on delivery while consistently achieving goals and objectives

  • Use metrics and work with business partners and senior leadership to drive the strategy on talent needs

  • Assist with larger team(s) OKR development and execution

  • Engage in and communicate tech incidents to impacted stakeholders; owns engagement with stakeholders and engineering team(s) to coordinate a response in High Severity Incidents (Sev 1 or 2)

  • Recognize trends spanning multiple tech incidents and work with the team to ensure the appropriate short- and long-term resolutions are found

  • Seek out opportunities to improve collaboration between business domains, products and/or team(s) using extensive knowledge and understanding of processes

  • Know why we’re implementing the technology product(s), its context, audience, what problem it will solve and its technical capabilities/limitations and be an expert with various products the team(s) is supporting

  • Make process improvement recommendations to both technology software development life cycle as well as business processes based on reporting, trends, extensive knowledge and understanding of the product suite

  • Drive and implement new best practices within the leadership community

  • Assist peers and others outside of their direct reports with embracing the Agile mindset, leaning into data-driven experimentation and encouraging innovation

  • Strengthen and maintain key relationships with leadership in supported business areas
