Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Marketing, Market Research, Analytics, Applied Statistics, Data Science, Finance, Sociology, or related field

  • 6 years of for-profit sector experience in a strategy, finance, or analytic role

  • Experience in delivery and management of strategic analytic projects in consulting or agency setting, including partnering with internal and external business stakeholders

  • Direct experience with analytic findings, insights, and transforming insights into action

  • Experience accessing, cleaning, organizing, analyzing, and synthesizing quantitative and qualitative data using standardized and commonly accepted methods that can be transitioned to others

  • Mastery in building sustainable and transferable customer-facing Excel-based tools

  • Strong experience building analyses that can be repeated, scaled, and automated

  • Basic understanding of primary research modes (such as survey research and depth-interviewing), sources of bias, ethical standards associated with collecting data on human subjects, and experience working with experts

  • Proven ability to synthesize by ‘connecting the dots’ between seemingly disparate data, people, projects, resources, suppliers, products, services, capabilities, opportunities, goals, etc.

  • Experience developing and presenting project justifications or business cases to senior leadership

  • Extensive experience with financial analysis / numerical methods – the ability to rapidly access, organize and analyze data using standard financial tools as well as advanced numerical methods

  • Experience with project management through the creation of project objective, scope, work streams, and execution plans; experience delivering against tight timelines, and providing documentation on all of the above

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration or related field

  • Human Centered Design principles

  • Working knowledge for big data analysis

  • Direct experience in quantitative or primary market research

  • Direct experience in field sales or manufacturing plant environments

  • Proactive, growth mindset always striving for continuously improving self, others, and the business

  • Ability to verbally and visually communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences, as well as non-technical concepts and needs to technical audiences

  • Working knowledge of quantitative methods including regression analysis, optimization, and financial modeling

  • Willingness to ‘roll up your sleeves’ and perform tasks to get the job done efficiently and effectively

  • Leadership capability to organize and motivate cross functional teams in a matrix organization

  • Maturity and conviction to develop new perspectives on product strategy and advocate for those strategies across all levels of organization, including at the most senior executive levels

  • Demonstrated aptitude for performing analytical thinking and generating implications is required, as is the ability to structure problems in highly-fluid situations

  • Strong business acumen, demonstrating professionalism through self-respect and respect for others

  • Working knowledge of unique characteristics, needs, and challenges of cross-functional audiences

  • Ability to be assertive and proactively raise concerns when data or methodological integrity is at risk

Job Summary

The Senior Research Analyst will leverage research and analytics to frame market-back organic growth opportunities, identify alternative solutions to address those opportunities, and determine criteria necessary for execution as part of an aspiration to build markets and accelerate company success through strategic marketing. To accomplish this, the successful candidate will champion front-end market assessment, coupled with back-end financial analysis supporting the immediate market intelligence team, which supports the Product Strategy & Marketing organizations and the larger enterprise-wide leadership. He or she will work closely with experts representing primary and secondary market research, client behavior, competitive intelligence, and advanced analytics to product comprehensive, synthesized solutions to complex business questions and problems. The successful candidate will identify business opportunities and translate these opportunities into business plans and strategies. He or she will be able to think strategically about challenges facing internal partners and mine data to create opportunities and recommendations to drive revenue for both B2C and B2B programs and products. Projects will mainly be based on quantitative analysis of market data – both primary and secondary – to support high value choices on where and with what to compete in the marketplace. This candidate will be a critical figure in driving growth-oriented thinking, demonstrating the value of Product Strategy.


  • Deliver quantitative assessment of top-priority business projects and select business-development initiatives; defines market opportunities utilizing standard frameworks to transfer market knowledge from analyst to team; recommends product, market, and business strategy

  • Develops perspectives and positions on opportunities in the mortgage and real estate industries outside current focus areas

  • Assesses industry, environment, technical, and competitive landscapes (define scope, size, trends, etc.)

  • Conducts value chain analysis, including market segmentation and value proposition work

  • Ensures milestones incorporate analytic insights to pinpoint high-impact customer-focused growth areas

  • Participates in the development of corporate and business strategic plans

  • Defines a winning market strategy for business strategy projects by owning key work steams

  • Creates impactful presentations and models to communicate recommendations

  • Conducts key decision maker and thought process analyses

  • Consistent formatting across artifacts

  • Estimates the incremental lift in margins associated with new products & programs

  • Develops business cases to support new products and programs, including impact to financial statements

  • Understands key business drivers and develops comprehensive stories through collaboration and analytics

  • Utilizes internal resources (supply chain, science & technology, primary market research, customer behavior data, etc.) and external resources (industry experts, industry associations, academic literature, market reports, databases, syndicated data, etc.) to gather information and pursue full understanding of markets

  • Supplements literature review and quantitative analysis with a qualitative complement: coordinates interviews, job site visits, sales meetings, conference visits, and other sources to gain deeper insights of markets

  • Leads volume & financial Forecasting processes and actively seeks opportunities for improvements

  • Drives accountability with strong attention to detail both inside and outside the team

  • Systematically executes both front-end market assessment and backend financial modeling within the Epic process after designing repeatable, scalable solution set of new product or program development. Key contributor to go/no-go recommendations for business leadership

  • Visualizes data to best communicate findings (and non-findings) t non-technical audiences; appropriately utilizes a variety of visualization tools and techniques to deliver insights; leverages storytelling and other narrative techniques to deliver compelling data-based insights and business recommendations; translates technical findings (and non-findings) to broader audience
