This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-performance development team that is transforming the customer and dealer experiences associated with purchasing GM products, including Electric Vehicles (EV’s). The Finance function performs a critical cross-functional role in driving GM’s business success including improving company financial performance, managing cash to fund major vehicle programs, and reporting results and managing investor perceptions. Global Finance IT provides innovative technology solutions to support these objectives. We deliver value at high speed through an intense Customer focus coupled with domain expertise and business savvy. We are innovative, dependable, reliable, and collaborative.

The Senior IT Project Manager will manage multiple medium size projects or a large-scale project. You will have accountability of the project during all phases and will be expected to follow GM's standard methodologies and process on all software development, deployment, and infrastructure projects. Additionally, the role requires the elicitation of risks and issues with assigned projects which will enable leadership visibility to help resolve issues.

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Manages multiple medium-size IT projects or a large-scale IT Project from beginning to end

  • Run projects using agile methodology and frameworks

  • Understand the fundamentals of iterative and incremental development

  • Ensures that projects are completed on time and meet all business and system requirements

  • Communicates project status, progress on deliverables, and risks/issues to stakeholders and leadership in a timely manner

  • Discuss and prioritize project issues with the project team and provide help/support to the project team as required

  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams including architects, software engineers, developers and technical leads to ensure timely delivery of project

  • Identifies and resolves issues/conflicts within the project team

  • Ensures adherence to GM's system delivery process guidelines and provides early feedback to project teams to take proactive measures to resolve the issues

You should have proven experience in the following:

  • Critical thinking ability

  • Strong problem-solving capacity

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Have knowledge about Agile techniques like: features, user stories, continuous integration, automated testing, backlog tracking, burndown metrics, velocity

  • Full lifecycle application development using standard design patterns and frameworks

  • Complete cycle software project delivery efforts

  • Continuous integration and continuous deployment processes and tools (DevOps)

  • Knowledge of software testing, quality assurance and solutions testing including automation

  • Compliance with GM standards and industry standard methodology

  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and personal development

Additional Job Description

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Computer Science, MIS / CIS, or another STEM-related major preferred

  • Minimum of 5 years of working experience is required (at least 10 years of experience is preferred)

  • Business process experience including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Project Systems, Asset Accounting and Product Costing

  • SAP ERP or SAP S/4 HANA working experience is preferred
